Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • Instant Recovery has many great use cases
  • Capacity tier offloads with immutability
  • License portability, remove license from protected workload and add back later if needed.
  • Support could be stronger on first touch. The need to escalate and wait has been experienced through the years. Reluctance to come “take a look” and the time it takes to gather logs is extensive.

  • Backup multiple platforms.
  • Allow for backup to multiple types of targets.
  • Replicate virtual machines from one location to another or into the cloud.
  • It should recommend the most secure method of backup methods to ensure immutability.
  • It should maximize SnapMirror technology when using a NetApp as a backup target to replicate backups to CVO targets.
  • It should provide a centralized dashboard for backing up all PaaS services in Azure.

  • backing up and restoring on-prem virtual and physical hosts
  • automatically orchestrating the backup infrastructure (backup proxies and transports)
  • automating the restoration workflow (being able to restore in place without having to perform additional manual operations)
  • Reporting and logging
  • Licensing: allow the use / merging of perpetual and subscription licenses. We have permanent per socket licenses, and subscription licenses to backup desktop workstations. This currently forces us to have 2x Veeam servers.

  • Creating reliable backups
  • Logging during the backup process
  • Incorporating new features
  • Ease of use
  • Canceling backup jobs that are currently running can be a pain.
  • Veeam customer support can be arrogant and assuming, even when proven incorrect on details during a service ticket.

  • scheduling of packups
  • easy to use without much training
  • even if it's manual, checking for a successful backup
  • It's not the platform but it'd be nice to have our rep recommend features that would fit in our budget
  • It'd also be nice to have a review of our setup to see how we could improve

  • Migrating Virtual Machines
  • Extracting VMDK's for Recovery
  • There is currently no Proxmox integration
  • When restoring VMDK's, allow network locations and not just local. Sometimes we don't have the space locally
  • Better descriptions on how the licenses are applied. Maybe a bubble of what each section for licensing covers.

  • Automatically and easily making regular incremental backups
  • We were using Red Hat Virtualization and the support for that platform was mediocre. The plugin broke at some point and I was never able to fix it. We have since moved away from RHV
