We are currently using Veracross for three reasons, the first is our need to organize weekly distance training with professionals in the area, the second is that we had flaws in the admission processes and Veracross is decisive that all stages of this process , but the other reason to stick with Veracross is the integration with a vast number of third party mail tools like Mailchimp, Google, Microsoft and other great tools.
  • Good administration of the admission process.
  • Integration with Mailchimp.
  • Normally it has everything I need for my work, today I was able to make a video call and chat from my cell phone and this adds more positive points to Veracross.
The admission process of making administration tools company to be able to execute the entire process from the beginning to the end without inconveniences, Veracross can be used for multiple purposes, it has a unique database which allows to have more confidence in this product, it is also the product with an intuitive design from all points of view of the most relevant features such as admissions administration.

I work in an educational management company called "Teachables" where we offer students crash courses on lengthy syllabuses. We use local tutors and connect them with students who are in need of the service. While we were in business, a major problem we faced was having a proper information flow between all the tutors, students, parents, and company employees. We were looking at many learning management software as well and when we were at it we luckily came across Veracross, which happened to be a fully integrated school information system that connected all the students, tutors, parents, and the company administrative staff.
  • Attendance management.
  • Billing & invoicing.
  • Communication management.
  • Website integration to the software can be done.
  • A main dashboard can be implemented.
  • Social media integration can be done.
Veracross is software that can be highly recommended to anyone in the education industry. Veracross offers a breadth of services varying from administration to student-parent communication. The unique abilities that Veracross offers such as email reminders, attendance management, billing, and payment processing, and attendance tracking have made my job as an administrative support manager so much easier and more productive here at Teachables.

Veracross is our new school information system. It's replacing Blackbaud's Education Edge. We're implementing Veracross over a 3-year period... year 1 (now) is the school data (gradebook, attendance, school directories, etc.). Year 2 is our Business Office implementation (replacing Sage50) and Year 3 will be the Advancement Office (replacing Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge). Blackbaud announced that they were sunsetting Education Edge and we found their replacement platform lacking so we went through an RFP process which resulted in the selection of Veracross.
  • mobile-friendly portal for staffulty, parents, and students
  • built-in or easy-to-configure integration with other systems (for example, RankOne and Naviance)
  • targeted messaging based on data within the system
  • "where is student now?" is one-click away
  • it's easy to get data OUT of Veracross but their data import features could use some improvement
  • they recently changed their knowledge management and help desk system and are still experiencing some growing pains with that platform (for example, I believe that any error message a system throws should be easily and readily searchable in the KB; that is not currently the case)
  • it's early but we've identified some inconsistencies in some displays and while many displays offer a field to specify the sort order, some important ones (teacher schedule, for example) do not and it's a lot of cognitive load to decipher some of those (seemingly unsorted) screens. Sorting by an internal ID field that is not controllable, not editable, and not over ridable (with a sort key) is a poor choice.
Veracross' only customer base is private, independent, K-12 schools. In other words, they're not spending resources on configuring the next state-mandated report in Alaska. They're only dealing with private, independent, K-12 schools. Towards that end, their management of student/teacher/school data is excellent. I have read, though have no direct experience yet, that their Advancement module is less well-suited to sophisticated fund-raising activities. Similarly, their LMS is somewhat lacking. This doesn't affect us directly, and I hold out hope that their API will continue to evolve and mitigate some of these limitations.

We use it in advancement, student and family data, communications, and student report/class management.
  • Student and family data is easy to keep up to date. And there is so much data that you can keep track of. It is so helpful to have all data in one place so we don’t have a human error in transfers g to another system.
  • Recording donations is very easy and you can attach backup documents very easy which is great during our yearly audit. All records are in the system and can be pulled at anytime.
  • Easy for parents to sign in to view and edit their own information as well as view student reports.
  • In the development module, it is often hard to pull reports because there are so many ways to do it. I work around that by saving reports I often pull so I don’t have to constantly rebuild reports.
  • The communications module, Composer, needs a major upgrade. It is not very user-friendly and there are not ways to edit or design modern and good-looking emails and newsletters. Not a lot of formatting options.
Veracross would be a real match for a larger school with a large development staff that can use all the details and has time to manage it properly.

Veracross is our one-stop shop for managing our student, faculty, and parent information. They enter the database at their first inquiry and travel seamlessly from inquiry to applicant to student to alumnus. Flexible online portals allow us to enable parents to gather needed information as well as pay bills and manage permissions online. Veracross is used by all departments in our organization--student billing, accounting, admissions, learning management system, academic documents and philanthropy. We also utilize their API for a few home-grown web apps.
  • We have our own account manager who knows our school and its configuration
  • Parent, student, and faculty portals (as well as news portals) are designed and configured by us--we can control what content goes where
  • Infinitely configurable queries, which meet all of our needs for extracting data
  • We would like to see more functionality in the learning management system
  • We would like the ability to order the admissions files for our online reviewers
Veracross is well suited for a school that wishes to have one database that serves all departments. I think a smaller school might struggle with the cost of the system--so perhaps would be better suited to a school with an enrollment over 500 students. Of course, if you have the money to spend, then there are no barriers to using it!

Veracross is used organization-wide by about 300 employees. We use it as a learning management tool across the organization. It helps with scheduling, class rosters, grade reporting, and budgeting. Veracross allows me to access student information through the directory, tells me my class schedule, and tells me the class schedule of any student within the school. Veracross also has a parent portal for parents to log in to see their child's schedules, their class information, grades, and the directory. Veracross is intuitive to learn and to figure out.
  • Streamlined and easy to read design
  • Simple and intuitive ways to contact entire classes and groups
  • Grade reporting is simple and automatically saves any comments I've written as I write
  • The main school calendar is synced with Veracross' home page calendar to assist in planning
  • Veracross does not allow teachers to see report cards from previous years.
  • There is no functionality to email multiple classes the same thing. I need to click on each class to send the same parent email.
  • It is difficult to find how many times a student has been absent or tardy within the trimester or year. A significant amount of digging is required.
Veracross does a great job organizing my schedule and giving me information about my students. I easily see the school calendar upon log in to see upcoming conflicts. I am able to add disciplinary reports within the same system I take attendance in, which is vital. No teacher wants to have 3 tabs open to email parents, take attendance, and write comportment forms. Veracross does not have the ability to keep report card data from previous years easily accessible for teachers. In our school's previous learning management system I had access to every report card a child has received at the school.

Our school uses Veracross for faculty, parent, and student portals. Teachers can take attendance, post assignments, record grades, and make announcements. Parents can view the calendar, check students grades and reports, and get important messages from the teachers. Students rely on it as a way to check homework assignments and current class grades. Veracross keeps track of the school calendar and school directory as well as other things.
  • Grades-Real time data about grades for students, parents, and teachers.
  • Directory-Easy to find information about students and faculty in one place.
  • Calendar-Easy to check on school events and other activities.
  • Homework assignments-I wish that you could duplicate assignments for different sections of a class. As it is now, you have to enter it separately.
  • The library feature is difficult for some teachers to manage.
  • The class website isn't as easy to use as some other programs.
Veracross is great to use for a grade book and a place to post assignments and give feedback. The calendar is informative, but not useful for scheduling appointments. Overall, it is most used for attendance tracking.

Our whole organization uses Veracross. Veracross is a powerful tool that holds our student, family, faculty, and staff data. We can use it for mailings and labels or use it to look up current contact info for a family when needed. We can pull student schedules, grades, comments, and transcript information.
  • It seems to have an unlimited amount of storage.
  • There is almost nothing it won't do.
  • My biggest concern is that it is not particularly intuitive so it can be hard to remember how to do things you don't do often.
It is well suited to hold large amounts of data.

It may not be helpful if you only need something for small data mining.
