Vyond, formerly known as GoAnimate, has been utilized by a diverse range of users to create animated videos for various purposes. Users have successfully created explainer videos on Vyond to effectively communicate high-level product information and general business topics. Additionally, the platform has been employed to create entertaining song parodies with matching visuals that have gained significant traction on YouTube.

Vyond has proven to be an invaluable tool for businesses in multiple industries. For instance, a Canadian insurance technology company has been leveraging the platform for three years to create animated explainer videos that showcase their software solutions. Moreover, Vyond's versatility extends beyond standalone videos; it has been seamlessly integrated into other video editing software like Final Cut Pro, allowing users to incorporate animation snippets and expedite the editing process.

Training and education have also greatly benefitted from Vyond's capabilities. Not only are training videos on customer service, IT help desk issues, and sales processes readily created on the platform, but these videos can also be easily uploaded to various micro-training platforms. Furthermore, Vyond is widely used by video production companies and marketing departments alike to craft visually engaging explainer videos that effectively convey the value of products and services. The platform's ease of use makes it an ideal choice even for those without prior video production experience.

Within organizations, Vyond finds utility in several departments. From the training department utilizing it for new-hire onboarding videos and executive board presentations to HR using it for company history videos, Vyond offers versatility in meeting internal communication needs. eLearning development teams have also found value in GoAnimate for creating animations and characters for their content, ultimately saving time and costs.

The benefits of Vyond extend beyond internal use as well. Sales teams have adopted this user-friendly platform for prospecting, client communication and support, as well as running technical demos. It serves as a cost-effective solution for the marketing department when creating tutorials and product/service pages. Additionally, Vyond has been utilized to build engaging videos for contests, incentives, and marketing the company's culture and brand.

The Learning & Development department has integrated Vyond into training courses by including short videos that enhance user engagement. Similarly, compliance policies and procedures have seen increased user interaction when presented through animated videos compared to traditional text-based formats. Overall, Vyond's ability to create professional-looking videos quickly and easily at a fraction of the cost makes it a valuable asset for a wide range of industries and use cases.

Intuitive and User-Friendly Interface: Many users have found the user interface of the product to be intuitive and user-friendly, allowing them to easily create animations without prior video experience. This has been mentioned by a significant number of reviewers who appreciate how the interface guides them through the process smoothly.

Wide Range of Video Backgrounds, Environments, and Templates: The product offers a wide range of video backgrounds, environments, and templates that cater to various needs and preferences. Users have expressed their satisfaction with this aspect as it provides them with ample options for creating professional-looking videos in different styles.

Ability to Import Own Images and Assets for Customization: Users highly value the ability to import their own images and assets into the product. By doing so, they can further customize and personalize their videos according to their specific requirements. Several reviewers have praised this feature for its flexibility in incorporating branded elements or unique resources into the videos.

Limited customization options: Many users expressed a desire for more customization options, including additional characters, export options, style/genre options for templates, and better typography tools. Some users found the character selection and library searches to be lacking, with poorly tagged images and difficult-to-find character poses. Difficulties in editing features: Several users mentioned that they found it cumbersome to manage multiple scenes for characters with multiple actions/expressions. Users also found the timeline difficult to read, especially when adding features. Some users suggested making the interface more detailed to show triggers on assets at all times and allowing more functions to be available through right-clicking. Lack of audio editing capabilities: Users expressed a desire to edit audio within the software. They mentioned that it was time-consuming to add text-to-speech to every frame and suggested making this process easier. Additionally, some users desired the option to add sound/audio tracks directly within the software.

Users commonly recommend subscribing to Vyond as it is worth the cost and provides a versatile, fun, and easy-to-use tool for creating videos, gifs, or media. Many reviewers find that Vyond makes complicated information easier to understand and more engaging, making it a great tool for creating training videos. They suggest trying out the free trial of Vyond to test its features and see if it suits their needs before committing to a subscription. Upgrading from the trial version to a user license is also recommended because many key features are only available outside of the trial mode. Additionally, considering the more expensive version of Vyond is advised to avoid watermarks, and users highlight that creating animations yourself can be cost-effective compared to getting custom-made ones.

GoAnimate has been used within my Learning & Development department but the output is viewed by the entire organization. We use it mostly within training courses to include short videos, but also as stand along training clips or announcements of new information.
  • Having the ability to upload your own images into the program is one of its greatest features. This allows you to really customize the output to your organization. You're able to really make things come to life this way!
  • I really enjoy the way the scenes build upon each other so that you don't have to rebuild something from scratch each time as you might have to do with other programs.
  • The ability to customize characters is a fantastic feature of the program. In our organization we've used it to create 'characters' who look like actual people in our organization. That, coupled with voiceovers from the actual associates adds a nice touch to the videos.
  • It would be nice if you were to remove an object from a scene that was in the middle of your video, the program would send a prompt to ask if you'd like to remove it from all future scenes as well. Often, I will add something, only to be asked to take it out later and the only way to do this now is to delete it from each scene individually. I wouldn't want it to do it by default, because sometimes I really do just want to take it from 1-2 scenes, but if it was an option, that would be great!
  • If there was a feature available to automatically attach a voice file to a particular scene when uploaded based on the name of the file. For example, if the program gave you a suggested file name for each scene, you could create all your voiceovers with those particular file names and then bulk upload and have the system automatically attach the files to their respective scenes. That would be very nice and save a lot of time!
The program is very appropriate for training on conversation techniques. It's great to show how a conversation should go. It also works well to show the steps to certain things in the retail world. For example, processes for approaching customers, opening the store, setting the alarm, restocking, etc.
  • We've been able to provide training in a remote manner on many topics regarding communication techniques. The reason for this is because the program really allows you to make the conversations come to life. Being able to train on these types of topics without the added travel expense has been a great ROI for our organization.
  • BranchTrack
I can't say exactly which one I would recommend more, but the pros of BranchTrack are that they offer the ability to upload voicefiles which will automatically attach to each scene, saving A LOT of time. They're program is also very easy to move scenes around in and having the ability to reroute someone back to an earlier scene is nice. It also provides the user interaction vs. just watching a video. However, GoAnimate on the other hand allows you to customize background and scene layouts a little more than BranchTrack does. It's also better if you don't want the user interaction.

Instructional design skills are a benefit but not required. Basic computer skills are needed. However, if you want to get fancy and add voiceovers and custom images you will need the ability to edit video files and custom image development skills.
