WatchGuard AuthPoint

Things did not use to be that simple at all, when we first used WatchGuard AuthPoint with our SSL VPN connections on the WatchGuard Fireboxes. One would have to setup a radius server on a domain controller and pass all the connection traffic between the Firebox and AuthPoint through an Authentication Gateway on a DC. And then set up at least one more Authentication Gateway to ensure high availability. However since version 12.7 of Fireware this is no longer needed. That was a much expected change that did really make things a lot simpler and did make us very happy!

The configuration is a bit confusing if you log in for the first time. If you have configured your company or structure in the cloud or if you already have other cloud products from WatchGuard (e.g., Wi-Fi-Cloud, Host-Sensor), then you are firm with the configuration and the structure in WatchGuard Cloud. So then it's easy to configure and deploy. The help from WatchGuard is also very good. There are also configuration examples that are very useful.

Yes, very easy indeed. No need for servers.

Benefited from being able to access resources remotely in a secure manner. The few users that have WatchGuard AuthPoint accounts, can generally access network resources while traveling, which is a big must for their roles. The simplicity of using the mobile device to obtain the authentication code makes this a worth-while product.

Due to WatchGuard AuthPoint being cloud-based, it helps with the manageability and scalability of not only our business but also other businesses we provide it to. You can access it from anywhere and don't need to be onsite to configure WatchGuard AuthPoint as long as you have a connection to the domain server.

Yes - Fully manageable on the cloud. Users can use their smartphones for the MFA function.

We have benefitted from this as it's been easy to add other providers to access specific AuthPoint accounts. As we are hybrid work-from-home, the cloud managed service has made it easy to quickly manage and deploy.

I have reset authentication from my home computer as many times as I have done it from my office computer.

AuthPoint is easy to administer from anywhere. It is nice to not need any additional hardware than what we had in place. We needed to add a connector to our Domain to migrate users between AuthPoint and our servers. That software has been working great since it was installed.

The absence of hardware requirements allows for a very simple implementation and allowed us to use this product even at clients who did not have the ability to place new machines at their datacenter

WatchGuard AuthPoint's cloud implementation makes it very easy for us to deploy, integrate and support the system in our network and for our clients. You can literally have the service integrated with Office 365 in about 10 minutes, the same for Active Directory - its super quick, simple and effective.

Yes we use the WatchGuard Cloud dashboard for managing users and other functionality.

We manage our customers firewall, Access point and Endpoint security from Watchguard Cloud, so having Authpoint managed in the same place provide ease of management and less training for our staff.

The lack of need for local hardware for MFA itself frees up our time as an MSP and reduces cost to our clients.

Web based of course makes it very easy to deploy. It's also great to be able to add all out WG firewalls for remote management and auto software updates.

It is quite comfortable for any technician who is anywhere to be able to access the cloud management console and carry out their tasks in a simple and practical way. The fact that no hardware is required is a fantastic advantage as it is less physical equipment that has to be maintained.

Having WatchGuard AuthPoint as a cloud service is great. I can easily log in and manage settings and/or resolve issues no matter where I am and it removes the burden of yet another on-premise application that has to be monitored, updated, and managed.
