WatchGuard Network Security

It is used by the entire organization. The WatchGuard device provides internet security and external access security to the office workstations and servers. We have implemented IPS and Gateway antivirus. The SSL and IPSEC VPN clients are set up and used by users for connecting to their local workstations.
  • Network connectivity from clients and home easy and secure.
  • It requires little attention once set up.
  • Management is easy.
Cons
  • The help system for custom implementation is sometimes difficult, fortunately support is very responsive and timely.
I have used this system for maintaining patient and client security for both health care, legal and accounting companies with little concern for the system being violated.

WatchGuard Firewalls

I have 19 clients and use WatchGuard systems in all of my client's offices. We utilize all of the Watchguard capabilities including the VPN capabilities. The web-filtering and granularity it provides in blocking specific items it ideal for my clients.
  • Site to Site VPN
  • Web-filtering
  • Default Packet Handling and auto block of unhandled external packets
Cons
  • None, unless you don't understand TCP/IP protocol or firewalling.
I think WatchGuard is less appropriate in very small offices of 1-5 people, but they still implement well. They just seem like overkill for all of their capabilities.

This is a branch manufacturing location that needed network security, VPN secured access and Wi-Fi for employees, equipment access and management and service and support vendors. The WatchGuard TZ370w provided everything we needed with excellent support during installation. The organization was already using the WatchGuard firewalls at their other locations. This was our first deployment of the 7 generation series devices.
  • Stable and reliable product
  • Easy deployment configuration
  • Secure integration with our SonicWall APs
  • Ease of management thru web interface
Cons
  • Cloud management disables local logins
  • some issues with log4j that our vulnerability scanner reports as threat
  • number of screens needed to make changes
WatchGuard TZ and AP devices provided excellent tools in our remote location. The continuity across our locations and remote access it provides our company end users and our vendors has been great. The security and regular firmware updates are needed in today's threat environment. After one year of use in this location we have appreciated the reliable functionality.

WatchGuard Network Security is an integral part of our organization's cybersecurity framework. It's primarily used to safeguard our network against various threats such as malware and phishing attacks. The product effectively addresses business problems related to data breaches and unauthorized access, which are critical in maintaining our company's integrity and client trust. Our use case involves deploying WatchGuard's firewall and VPN solutions across multiple offices, providing a robust defense perimeter and secure remote access for our mobile workforce. The intuitive interface and detailed reporting features aid in the timely identification and management of network issues, thus fostering a secure and reliable operational environment.
  • VPNs are extremly flexible and can connect to any other VPN out there
  • Only allows what we set it to allow using a zero trust model
  • very rarely needs to be rebooted
Cons
  • Reduce confusion between local and cloud setup
WatchGuard Network Security shines in scenarios requiring robust protection against cyber threats, especially in medium to large-scale organizations. For instance, when we faced a surge in phishing attempts, WatchGuard's threat detection capabilities promptly identified and neutralized these threats, ensuring uninterrupted business operations. Its VPN solutions are also well-suited for enabling secure remote work, a necessity in today's flexible work culture. However, in smaller setups or for simpler network structures, it might come across as over-complex or cost-prohibitive. Additionally, organizations requiring highly specialized or industry-specific security compliance measures may find it less appropriate, as it may not cater to such nuanced requirements without additional configurations or third-party integrations.

A huge step up, great throughput and security, VPN DNS resolution is a game changer for remote working!

WatchGuard [Netword Security] firewalls are a comprehensive firewall solution that goes beyond a basic firewall. WIth the client deployed on all computers, WatchGuard [Netword Security] takes a multi-step approach to defense, monitoring the computer and firewall at the same time to detect threats that may otherwise go unnoticed. It has helped us identify abuse of the network by individuals and prevent their access in the future. It keeps our public WiFi safe and secure for our clients.
  • Perimeter firewall
  • Web filtering
  • Secure wifi
  • High internet speed
Cons
  • Ease of use
  • Free cloud control
[It is] very well suited for networks with 50 users or more, and definitely when you are providing a public service or wifi. Their firewalls have a very high throughput and spec, so our client can take advantage of their high internet speeds, and share this over their public wifi. If you want to track and trace the usage of your wifi and network, this gives accountability and integration with existing network servers and clients.
