WeTransfer is a versatile file transfer service that is widely used across organizations for various purposes. Users rely on WeTransfer to send large invoice files in AR, pitches, contracts, and technical reports. Its value becomes evident when users encounter attachment size limits in email clients like Outlook, as it eliminates the problem of not being able to send large files via email. Many users find WeTransfer easier to use than alternatives like Dropbox and Box, making it a preferred method for file transfers.

One key use case is within production teams where WeTransfer is used on a daily basis to send project files and drafts between team members and deliver files to clients. It offers the ability to send larger files than email and is more efficient than using a cloud service. Additionally, WeTransfer proves valuable for sharing files and assets with clients, vendors, and third parties, particularly when they need access outside the corporate shared drive or from remote offices. The free service provided by WeTransfer is particularly helpful, allowing users to send large files up to 2GB to multiple email addresses while providing options for password protection and download expiration/delete dates. Overall, WeTransfer provides a reliable and user-friendly solution for file transfers, especially in cases where email or other cloud storage platforms are not viable options.

Speed of File Transfer: Many users have consistently praised WeTransfer for its impressive speed when it comes to both uploading and downloading files. This quick and efficient performance allows users to seamlessly share large files without any delays or frustrations.

Document Tracking: The feature that enables users to track the status of their shared documents is highly valued by many reviewers. They appreciate being able to see if a document has been opened by the recipient, as well as how many times it has been accessed. This valuable insight helps users stay informed and ensures that important files are being viewed and utilized.

Password Protection: WeTransfer offers the convenient option of password protecting documents, which several users find extremely useful. By adding an extra layer of security, this feature gives users peace of mind knowing that their sensitive information is protected from unauthorized access.

Limited file size limit: Some users have reported that the file size limit of 2GB, unless a premium account is purchased, is too restrictive for their needs. They feel that the limit should be increased to accommodate larger files.

Automatic deletion of files: Users have mentioned that files are automatically deleted after 7 days, unless a premium account is used. This can be inconvenient for those who need to access their files for a longer period. It would be beneficial if there was an option to extend the storage duration or avoid automatic deletion.

Unreliable uploading with weak internet connection: Uploading large files may fail if the user does not have a strong internet connection. This has been frustrating for some customers who rely on WeTransfer for transferring important files. It would be helpful if there were better error handling and retry mechanisms in place to mitigate this issue.

Based on user reviews, here are the key recommendations for WeTransfer:

  1. Users highly recommend utilizing WeTransfer for efficient file sharing, particularly when time is a crucial factor.

  2. It is suggested to consider investing in WeTransfer, especially if one plans to use it for an extended period. The free version has file size limitations, so opting for the yearly rate or subscription is recommended to access more storage.

  3. WeTransfer is praised as a straightforward and user-friendly solution suitable for both technical and non-technical users. Individuals and small businesses can benefit from its capability to seamlessly transfer small videos, photos, or documents.

  4. Many users consider WeTransfer essential for sharing data with colleagues, friends, and family members.

  5. Some users enthusiastically recommend WeTransfer to everyone due to its outstanding features that allow for hassle-free large file transfers without external devices.

  6. For sending large graphic design files and images, users suggest taking advantage of WeTransfer's no sign-in feature.

  7. It is recommended to explore the paid version of WeTransfer for its simplicity and ability to cater to multiple users in a business environment.

  8. If frequent large file transfers are part of your routine, trying out WeTransfer is highly suggested.

  9. While WeTransfer may not offer every feature available in other file transferring software options, it stands out as the simplest and easiest to use.

  10. Users appreciate WeTransfer's intuitive interface, appealing design, and the added benefit of being free to use.

Overall, users' opinions about WeTransfer are positive, emphasizing its ease of use, convenience, and suitability for various file sharing needs.

We use WeTransfer in order to share materials between employees inside the company or to share them with clients and other companies. It helps us share big files that we can not attach via email on occasions where we can not upload them to Google Drive. It's extremely easy to use!

I've recently begun using WeTransfer more regular to send files to clients, because it's easier to use than Dropbox and Box, in my opinion. While I've used WeTransfer off and on for many years, it's slowly becoming my de facto method for file transfers. It's quick, easy, uncluttered and uncomplicated.

Dropbox vs. WeTransfer

We have to send very large files, which are usually high-resolution images of artworks that we sell. This is the lifeblood of our business. We prefer Dropbox, but many others we work with prefer WeTransfer. It seems to be most helpful when dealing with a large company that has a firewall and will not allow users inside the firewall to download and install software like Dropbox.

Our production team uses WeTransfer (Pro membership) on a daily basis to send project files and drafts between our team and to deliver files to clients. It enables us to send much larger files than email and is more efficient than using a cloud service.

With my business VGSoundtrackGuy Music, I hire musicians to do help me with various projects. And most of the time, the files I send them are over 1GB. Enter WeTransfer! WeTransfer's free service allows you to send up to 2GB of files to up to 20 email addresses. They also allow you to set a password to the download for protection as well as a download expiration/delete date. This is great as using regular GMail or Yahoo mail isn't as secure.

WeTransfer is used across the whole organization for various purposes - in AR we use it to send large invoice files, in sales they use it to send pitches and contracts, and our IT department uses it to send various technical reports with large amounts of data. WeTransfer is extremely useful due to the attachment size limit in Outlook. Even if IT lifts the restriction for outgoing messages, there is no guarantee that the recipient will be able to receive a large file via email. WeTransfer eliminates this problem entirely.
