Whova was used for our annual sales conference this year and worked amazingly. Aside from the expected results of having a platform for employees to use to know where and when to be at the conference's sessions, the ability to connect with the speakers, ask questions in the sessions that could be voted on so the speaker would address the most important all made the sessions more robust. The ability to also post pictures and comments also gave you the ability to make the conference more than just about topics but about the people attending. It was an easy to use solution that more than delivered.
  • Organizing agendas
  • open architecture for sessions (able to connect to speakers and to prompt questions)
  • Ability to comment or like a comment or picture.
Any conference environment would be a well suited use for Whova.

I was offered the use of Whova as an attendee of the American Student Dental Association Annual Session in February 2023. I absolutely love this app for pre-event engagement, during the show contact/lead capture and follow up messaging! Every tradeshow should use this app or something like it. It was our best event ever since we were able to promote our booth and prize drawing and capture contact info with the scan of a QR code.
  • Pre-Event Engagement & Promotion
  • Event Contact Info Capture (scanning)
  • Post-Event Follow up
  • Can't think of many, but if I had to think of one...make more fields mandatory for attendees to fill out (either by self use or event registration)
It helps to promote pre-engagement. It helped to make contact info capture as easy as taking a picture with our smart phone. Lastly, it allowed us to have a good list of names to follow up with that we engaged with while at the show. Whova is great at keeping users informed during the event as well.

It was an app for a virtual eDiscovery conference I attended. I also used it for another virtual conference during COVID.
  • Easy to find information, good layout
  • Easy to login and navigate between areas
  • Great use of multimedia in event app
  • Downloading the materials, would be good to have the name of the materials attached when downloading it. Now it shows the name on the app, but when you download it, you get a 'nothing' type name and have to rename the file so you know what it is.
  • Make it possible to bulk download materials when you've fixed the naming issue.
  • When in the UofF conference, and if the broadcast is going on in the same room for different sessions, needs an auto kick out of the session to force you to click on the new session. So many people in the chat did not understand that they had to exit the session and go to the new session to see the polls and engage directly there. That was annoying (people annoying not the app).
It's a great multi-functional tool for virtual conferences. It appears to have multiple places to connect with sponsors, links to discussions, links to contests, links to find attendees and message them. If you are not proficient in putting the site together for your event, I can see how it could be less effective for the audience. But our event was very well organized and therefore was super easy to use.
I would not want to use it for group discussions and breakouts like Zoom meetings - but it's not designed for that (which I like). Different tools for different types of uses.

SWBC Mortgage has its Managers, meeting and Sales Rally in Nashville. <br>We had around 240 employees meet with us. <br>Whova, was a Great Wat to Communicate the meetings and events along with chatting with your employees. <br>This is an Awesome Tool to have.
  • We could e-mail between employees
  • Reminders of meetings and times
  • We could share pictures
  • We were all kept in the loop.
  • I would like to have been able to see more attendees
  • I would like to know more about the community tab
It was best suited for the updates on the meeting and meeting places.

I was still a little off on the attendees tab.

Used in order to connect and communicate with conference attendees at an annual conference. It was a useful tool that allowed attendees to get to know one another and the atmosphere of the conference before it even began, allowed folks to stay in touch with one another throughout the conference asking questions relating to the content, share resources, as well as ask general logistic questions related to the conference location.
  • Easily connecting attendees to one another and ease of communication
  • Making it simple for attendees to connect their LinkedIn accounts so images and information are automatically shared
  • App is visually easy on the eyes and user-friendly
  • Uploading handouts to conference sessions wasn't immediately clear--many people were confused about needing to go through the email link and it not being immediately available on the app.
  • Agenda was not always easy to navigate--having it clearer which day was selected was tricky.
  • Some sessions occurred at the same time in the same place, but they were laid out on the app like separate events. Finding some way to make it apparent that they were occurring one after another as a single session with multiple parts would have been helpful.
Conference sessions are always helpful. Another conference I attend, called the POD Network, might be interested in the application. We use a different conference app, but Whova seems to be easier to navigate. It may not work as well having it as an app people use throughout the year, as we all go back to our respective institutions, but it would be nice to have continuity for future conferences.

I recently attended a hybrid conference with over 500 people and I was well-pleased with the experience. The ability to create impromptu meet-ups and group communication channels made it easy to engage with everyone, regardless of whether they were attending in person or online. Everyone was able to have an equal opportunity to participate and share ideas. The platform was well organized and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for an excellent experience for both in-person and online attendees.

We've used this platform for 3 conferences now and intend to continue to do the same in the future.
  • Hybrid integration of chat and in-person experiences.
  • Making conference schedule accessible and easily translated across time zones.
  • Creating reasonable ways for conference attendees to message and connect without having to divulge personal information.
  • I'd like to have a built-in way to have pronouns shown for every attendee next to their name
  • automatic real-time updates chat when accessing via the mobile app. I had to repeatedly refresh my device to see new comments that had come in.
  • The ability to make a whova-only on-site wifi connection for in-person conference attendees where in-person access is limited or difficult.
Hybrid and online-only conferences.

Whova was used as the conference app for our recent national conference for translators &amp; interpreters, 25-26 November 2022. There were just over 500 attendees for this hybrid event, with approximately 400 attending F2F. Whova greatly facilitated delegate interaction from its launch and became a well-used, reliable point of reference for the duration of the event.
  • Landing page is clear, attractive and updated sections are easy to spot
  • Communication between organizers and delegates was instantaneous and effective
  • Delegate interaction was prioritized with fun interactions that led people to meet
  • Delegate profiles were complete and easy to access, facilitating networking
  • The time zone could be made more obvious (in color perhaps?) Many people missed the difference between local time/event time and kept telling organizers the program was incorrect.
  • Making it possible to modify section names (eg. to use Program instead of Agenda)
For the past two years, we used a competitor app for our national conference, which I found quite good. However, Whova brought a whole new level of interaction and was far more intuitive to use. Navigation was simple, the content was relevant and dynamic and information on sponsors and delegates was easy to obtain. The possibility of asking presenters questions in advance was excellent and added to the depth of the sessions. I didn't know what I was missing!

Whova Saved The Day

The Whova app was essential in coordinating a large in-person meeting event over multiple venues. The app facilitated multi-lingual instructions and communications which came in incredibly helpful. The capacity to create unique groups and conversations allowed our cohort to facilitate meaningful and spontaneous connections. The agenda function was excellent for both internal and external stakeholders. They were able to easily find the venue times and locations. All in all, this app added a huge value to our corporate event.
  • Spontaneous group meetups
  • Seamless agenda udpates
  • Multilingual instructions
  • I thought it was a little weird how I had to click into each date for the agenda. For example, a great format for me is when you just scroll from day to day bottom to top.
  • I'm not sure how much we paid, but I would watch your price point. I think this is really valuable and I can imagine smaller businesses getting huge value out of it, but they have to be able to afford/justify the cost.
If you need to contact a large group of people in a small amount of time, I highly recommend having this app. Not only does it serve as a agenda, it allows for small groups to make contact, real-time updates, and a great blogosphere for everyone to connect on different items.

Whova was used for the Kansas Library Association's Convention in Wichita. It was well organized and so easy to use. I was impressed with how versatile the app is. I will be recommending it for further events.
  • Inform all participants in real time
  • Allow participants to communicate with each other as well as leaders
  • Allow participants to choose their schedules
  • The maps were helpful
Whova was well suited for the KLA Conference where many different presentations were happening at the same time. The app allows users to choose their schedules and see who is attending each presentation so co-workers could access more information without repeats.

The Whova app is super user friendly and the interface offers a great way to network at virtual and hybrid events. I use the messaging platform, create posts in the messaging board, and attend the speaking panels. Even after the events, I still engage with other members on the messaging platform and sometimes go back to previous events to reference a message or a post. I think this is a great app, and I hope you keep it live to continue hosting events.
  • interface
  • messaging board
  • private messages
  • the ability to copy and paste content
  • the ability to send images in the messaging boards and private messages
  • video quality on live streams, and ability to see all the speakers
The events get added by the host, and when I open the app back up, it's nice that the event is there, and all my info is carried over from previous events. I would like there to be a copy paste function, and the option to send images.

Whova was used to connect with a conference taking place in Boulder Colorado, USA in the time of tight COVID-19 restrictions. It allowed us to participate in that scientific event and present our results despite the time and location difference. It was used by the Material Science institution of our organisation (NTNU) whom where a dozen of employees and students has participated via Whova. The app was working great with the virtual environment created by conference organizers.
  • Allows apploading and playing out videos from conferences at any time
  • It has been combined with zoom smoothly with no technical issues
  • It accounts for potential interaction between users
  • None noticed

I used Whova as an attendee to the Kentucky Society for Human Resources Management annual conference. It made creating an agenda very easy. Great session descriptions, the ability to download the presentations, and get information on the speakers. One of the unexpected benefits was once I returned home I was able to go through and see other presentations that I was not able to go to because the speakers prepared very good presentations. The app made it easy to know what I wanted to attend or if I found I needed to fill a gap with something else. I'm going to recommend this to my library association because it was sooo easy to use.
  • Creating a personalized agenda
  • Clear and complete descriptions of sessions
  • Ability to download presentations
  • Well laid out (did have to hunt for what I was looking for)
  • A map of the conference center rooms would be helpful
  • Ability to change sessions without having to delete the original one selected
  • Take the red dot notification off of "Switch Event"
Great for conference attendees. Everything one needs is right there without having to have paper. Well laid out.

I used it during the 2022 HR Symposium sponsored by the SAHRMA. It made it easier to track my own schedule and still see that other options if I wanted to change it. Easy access to surveys -- maybe could have been linked to the calendar event for even quicker access.
  • intuitive app
  • easy to download
  • lots of options, like for facilitators to upload documents and for the attendees to take surveys
  • Even more convenient if could attach a link in the calendar event to the survey
  • Even more convenient if could attach a link to the documents uploaded by the facilitator for their calendar event

  • The ability to ask questions and see the responses
  • The ability to add things like military service. You ask for the highest level of education and I was embarrassed to say just 12 years. I went directly to the Navy and didn't attend college. I'm sure there are other people that went [in] different directions after high school.

We used Whova for our national all-staff retreat. It was a great tool to foster networking and communications outside of the general sessions, as well as communicate to all attendees about event details for each session.
  • Chat messages for networking with event attendees
  • Communicate details for a complex multi-session event to all attendees
  • Create a tailored personal plan for sessions to attend
  • Capture photos of event attendees
  • Can't think of anything you could do better
Best suited for a complex event with many attendees on multiple tracks. A little too robust for a simple one-day workshop with a small number of attendees.

  • Better searchability and filtering of sessions and workshops

I only used it when I was attending a virtual conference. It worked extremely well and I was surprised as it was the first time I had used this platform, and had never heard about it before using it.
  • Easy navigation between the various sections for a virtual conference.
  • The interface was very intuitive to use for a first-time user.
  • All the various sections for the conference were integrated, so when you connected with a colleague using the chat function, you could see that input in other conference forums.
  • I didn't use it long enough to determine any areas I would improve.
I thought that it was extremely well suited for the virtual conference that I attended as it was easy to see all the various venues of the conference from the speakers, the vendors and demonstrations and the networking function, and navigating among these venues was easy. Because I have never seen this platform before, I don't know enough about it to say where it might not work.
