Widen is excellent for any company looking to manage their assets in a safe, central space that allows for easy searching and sharing. Sharing assets in a portal to a user group enables us to provide access to specific groups of assets in a controlled environment.

Excellent DAM Option

Widen is a great digital asset manager internally. I loved the framework that the platform has. However, we created a main portal to share with our external partners so we could control what was private and what was public. The portal framework was not as user-friendly and we tried too much to make it like a website when it was meant to be a DAM. The main reason we switched providers is that we wanted to have the option to have a consistent framework internally and externally that was more user-friendly with better search capabilities.

DAM proves highly effective as a storage solution for assets that are accessed periodically. Its versatility extends beyond mere storage, as it can be evolved into a sophisticated model that integrates technology seamlessly. In this advanced iteration, the DAM not only serves as a repository but also provides department-specific data, ensuring relevance to user needs. It can be further redeveloped as software where a user has set permissions to a specific department and seeks permissions to access, view, or download assets from other departments. This user-centric approach enhances collaboration by offering a streamlined process for acquiring the necessary approvals, fostering efficient asset sharing across different organizational units.

Acquia DAM is well suited for large companies that need to organize and control the flow of assets being used by their teams and vendors. It provides much better control than file storage sites like Dropbox, where there's little control over what goes where and almost non-functional search functionality. If you're a smaller company, you may be able to get by or have someone dedicated to doing so, but for larger companies, it really takes a lot of the manual work out of it!

Before implementing the use of Acquia DAM, keeping track of the massive amount of assets utilized by different brands was a headache. Assets for different brands were stored in different locations which made it difficult to reuse assets across all the brands. However, once Acquia DAM was implemented, we were able to store all of the assets within one location where access was granted so that the ability to effectively and efficiently manage the assets was more convenient.

It is well suited if you are managing 1,000+ assets that are widely or commonly used for different purposes by multiple people, particularly if they are updated on a regular basis. It also allows us to control what assets can be viewed or used by others from a compliance perspective.

It is well suited if multiple teams are working on the floor but in silos. If teams are using different applications to manage assets. If you need versioning and publishing workflow. If access management and SSO integration is an issue. It is less appropriate if you want to create portals with great user interface and also want to share outside your organisation.

Widen has been extremely well suited for our company by providing a means to organize our 30K+ assets. They are well organized and easy to find by our users. I also love how they integrate well with our other partners such as Salsify, Salesforce, and our other partner that managers our wholesale product guide.

The platform shines in environments where collaboration among diverse teams, such as marketing, design, and content creation, is crucial.

Acquia DAM may not be as helpful for graphic design tasks. Its features might not fully cater to the specific needs and preferences of graphic designers, potentially requiring additional tools for design-related tasks.

Aquia DAM (Widen) is very reliable. The interface is easy. The support team is reachable. There are education "modules" when you want to learn more and they don't cost extra. I use this tool everyday with ease. I have learned to upload and download assets. Our company requires metadata be added when uploading -- this ensures an asset has information included along with an expiration date.

The product is not easy to use when changes need to be made to the asset or different versions created. The downloaad to pdf puts a link as the filename which means it is impossible to share with a non user because they click on the link and are brought to a sign in page.

Acquia DAM (Widen) has proven to be a vital tool for our organization, ensuring centralized and secure asset management in spite of any personnel changes over years. It has transitioned us from scattered personal storage strategies to a singular, reliable source - streamlining access, preserving permissions, and guaranteeing unbroken distribution links.

Remarkably, Acquia DAM has expedited our disaster response. This platform allows swift offloading of on-site resources, thus enabling vital fundraising activities to commence quickly as emergency responses are urgent. Concurrently, it supports our national marketing efforts during fundraising seasons, harmonizing our brand messaging. Furthermore, it serves as a consolidated repository for our multimedia ministry library, storing and managing audio, video, graphics, documents, and images. In its totality, Acquia DAM has become an irreplaceable asset in the organization.

A DAM good option

If you are a mid-large sized company that deals with a broad array of digital assets, and regularly sends content to large clients, Acquia is a good option. It helps keep things organized if you stay on top of your metadata consistency, and provides many options for sharing files.

If you are a small company, Acquia may be a bit overkill due to features and cost that will likely not be fully taken advantage of.

For a company with such a large portfolio of products, it is great to be able to have something like portals to help cut through some of the noise that the DAM system can have. It is a feature we utilize heavily. However, as we are a global company it can get difficult to manage some of the language needs of our foreign markets.

The best scenario that I can think of is when a company needs to organize multiple thousands of assets, which needs to be digitalized and organized in a way where more people around the globe will have access. I would recommend that they should use Acquia DAM (Widen)'s array of apps that can make their workflow easier.

Acquia DAM (Widen) has been a very helpful service overall. We have been able to find valuable uses for our DAM all over our company. Tools like Portals make sharing assets outside and inside the company fast, easy, and with a professional presentation. Acquia DAM (Widen) is a great fit for larger companies that have thousands of digital assets that need to be accessed and tracked.

Based on how my previous employer stored files, this way is much more efficient and effective! On top of that you wouldn't have to worry about losing all of your files and everything is always secured by being shared through linking. It's really great and a game changer.

Acquia DAM (Widen) is well suited for our creatives to search previously purchased assets to save money on projects. It is well suited for storing media assets and their metadata or accompanying documents. It is suited for keeping track of assets and their expirations as well as contracts and their expirations. It is super helpful for our video production projects.
