Wix was used to quickly and easily set up a site with information for a local podiatry service in Bristol.
It allowed creative freedom and easy changes to be made. It is also less expensive than using an agency etc.
  • WYSIWYG - very easy to use, drag and drop works well.
  • CMS - again easy to use and very quick to update content.
Cons
  • There was some glitches with uploaded certain file types, but jpg and png work fine.
Wix is well suited for quick jobs and information type websites. It is also well suited for small companies or independent workers looking to raise their profile on a budget.

Tons of customization, but far too easy to mess up.

When I switched from WordPress, I spent several months working with both Wix and Squarespace. I ultimately decided to go with Squarespace, as I found that although Wix has more customization options, it was more difficult for our clients to use. Clients liked the "do anything" interface but quickly messed up their sites, which was a hassle for everyone.
  • Good, simple on-boarding process.
  • Lots of visual customization options.
  • Many different themes to choose from.
Cons
  • It's too easy to mess up the design of your site...you can literally drag and drop elements anywhere, which looks awful!
  • The interface is messy and overwhelming for inexperienced clients.
  • The branding is inconsistent. Wix looks modern and polished in some areas and old and clunky in others.
Wix is great for businesses who have a tech-savvy designer or for business owners who want max control—they want to "play" at being the designer. It's not a good solution for businesses who don't have an internal or freelance designer. The templates are easy to ruin visually in a very short amount of time, so it's all around not a great option for anyone who needs that "high quality" vibe.

Wix used to be good, but messed it up big time

I have used Wix for several websites so far. The main reason would be to create an internet presence and to increase the professionalism with which our NGO is being perceived
  • Prefabricated websites that can be adjusted by its users
  • Website templates which are visually attractive
Cons
  • In my opinion, with the removal of the ADI web-building tool in favor of editor, user-friendliness has suffered tremendously.
  • In my opinion, the removal of the ADI web-building tool in favor of editor makes that a big portion of a website has to be redesigned, as items are now linked to each other in a different way than before.
  • In my opinion, the removal of the ADI web-building tool in favor of editor makes Wix only usable for professional website builders and no longer for the general public.
The fact of Wix moving away from their ADI web-building tool in favour of Editor, in my opinion, makes a huge mess of everything. I feel a lot of the ease and automation of designing my website has gone to such an extent that I now "recommend" Wix only for professional developers. Worse is that I have to redesign a big part of my website as items are now linked to each other in a different way than used to be the case. In my opinion, A big ZERO for Wix, who clearly should do their homework again.

Highly Recommend for Small Projects

Wix is not used in my organization, but I have used Wix in freelance situations with various types of clients and friends. It really allows someone with a small budget who needs a simple website get up-and-running quickly.
  • Layout of the website
  • User Interface in the admin
  • Pricing
Cons
  • The onboarding process is a little confusing right now, as they make you decide between two different admin interfaces and regular users have no idea what each process means.
  • More stock photography
  • Secure email hosting
Wix is good for a new, small businesses. If they don't need any functionality, Wix is really perfect for small clients. It is cheap, easy to use, and quick to set up. Best part is that the client can easily update their own website ongoing.

Administrators must complete a portfolio of accomplished practices as they transition from assistant principal to principal. This is a requirement for receiving your principalship for the FLDOE. Wix was an incredible way for me to demonstrate my experiences and skills as an assistant principal.
  • It is completely customizable. Wix is great for a variety of skill levels. You can click and drag to a pre-created site or have the ability to make whole changes to the presentation of your site.
  • So many options are available on the free version of Wix.
  • User friendly. No tutorials necessary. Just played with it for a while until I found my comfort zone.
Cons
  • I have high speed internet and the site always loads quickly. When I choose to make edits, it can be slow moving on occasion. But this is not a limiting factor.
I have been a user of Wix for a long time. As my skill set develops and my comfort level with Wix improves, I still do not "outgrow" Wix. I have as much creative control over the aspects of my site as I want. My initial sites were very visually pleasing as they were designed completely by Wix with me utilizing the "drag and drop" features. As I have gained experience, my sites have become more personalized with me controlling more of the design aspects. I was never intimidated stepping into website design using Wix.
