Free and customisable, but not user friendly or polished.

I use it for my own website and I use it for clients. It's a great free alternative to Shopify and works well with WordPress.
  • Free and easy to install.
  • Works with WordPress nicely.
  • Very customisable.
Cons
  • Difficult to use and manage.
  • Old outdated looking dashboard.
It's well suited if you have a WordPress website and the website is not solely focused on eCommerce.

The platform isn't as polished or user-friendly, but it's free and compatible with WordPress websites and the best option for WordPress.

Great to get you started, but could be more user friendly to Multi-vendor sites.

WooCommerece has allowed us to set up advance payment procedures for all of our hosts on LutheranBnB.com. Without WooCommerce's vast number of plugins and features, we wouldn't be operating.
  • Customizable product options
  • Coordination between different plugins
  • Customer friendly front end
Cons
  • We run a booking company that allows other vendors to list their homes on the website. For people with some web knowledge it is easy enough to figure out. But people without that knowledge found it difficult to set up their listing.
  • Making it easier to change what products are called would alleviate some questions.
  • Providing a front facing interface for our vendors would be good.
WooCommerce is great for getting set up with an E-commerce store fast. But if you aren't well versed in webdesign, it can be a bit daunting.

A great solution for WordPress users with eCommerce ambitions

I've used WooCommerce in the capacity of enabling relatively small nonprofit organizations be able to sell physical products, eLearning modules and print/digital subscriptions. Prior to using WooCommerce, they were having to sell their products and subscriptions through paper. WooCommerce, with its pros and cons, was transformational. It is also clearly the go-to eCommerce solution for Wordpress based websites.
  • Affordability
  • Scale
  • Implementation
  • Cost
Cons
  • UX leaves some to be desired. Very wordpress like, which is a great publishing platform but not a robust inventory system
  • Complexity of training on custom fields etc.
  • Limited integrations with other systems due to Wordpress infrastructure
For small to mid sized organizations that may be implementing their first eCommerce store, or are venturing to move from basic HTML stores to something more robust and manageable. Additionally for organizations with limited funds that cannot invest in more advanced solutions. Finally, for organizations with their website on Wordpress wanting an integrated eCommerce experience. Also for organizations with a somewhat limited portfolio of products/services that they'd like to sell.
Less appropriate for large scale organizations, or orgs requiring a sophisticated user experience, or CPQ.

A good platform for intermediary users who want value.

We use it to sell our souvenirs to a wider range of well-wishers. We use it to set up commerce pages on our website.
  • Ability to set up commerce pages with few clicks.
  • Features for multiple price, discounts, product description, etc. is what I liked.
  • Easy to use data collection.
Cons
  • More variety in free templates.
If you are looking for a no-nonsense, straightforward, intuitive software for setting up commerce in your webpage, then this is the best.

I used WooCommerce in a client services role, for an emerging, VC-backed startup company (consumer/health goods). Our client managed sales day-to-day, while I monitored the WooCommerce dashboard and analytics, providing counsel and tweaks to improve the sales funnel and increase returns. WooCommerce allowed my team to monitor client progress and integration of sales with marketing efforts/campaigns, while handing the "business management" aspects off to the client.
  • Integrations: WooCommerce integrates with hundreds of other services, both marketing and logistics. The platform excels in this regard.
  • Customer Support: Support is easy to contact and extremely helpful.
  • Open Source: By making the WooCommerce platform open source, WooCommerce is contributing to the development of quality software - and improving its own platform.
Cons
  • Customization: WooCommerce is not as strong in this regard, vs. major competitors.
WooCommerce is a great platform for small business owners with a bit of savvy - while it works for "beginner" users who are new to e-commerce, the platform has enough database, analytics, and inventory management features to make it a pretty powerful platform for users who like to dig into data.
