  • Adaptive offers plenty of flexibility with what-if scenario modeling. It's very easy to save different versions of the plan/forecast and to control access rights to the versions. It's possible to hide versions from all users or to set them as read only.
  • Adaptive makes month end variance analysis very straightforward. Comparing actuals with budget/forecast is quite simple and efficient. It's easy to do a high-level comparison and then to do a deep dive where needed. Also, the budget managers can perform their own reviews simultaneously.
  • We've been using the software for 5 years and our budget/forecast cycles change all of the time. Adaptive offers the flexibility needed to create rolling forecasts that extend out several years. However, I wish that it was easier to roll forward historical results into future periods - there's a mix of actual/budget data that gets rolled forward and there's a lot of editing required to arrive at a baseline budget.

  • Staffing. Almost certain we would have had to hire a full-time budget analyst to process budgets pre-Adaptive. Savings in labor for salary and benefits is about $150 k annually.
  • Quicker ability to report and complete the budget process. Before Adaptive, the budget process took about 4 months. We have shrunk the time required to about 3 months with additional time now for analysis.
  • What if reporting. Nice to see the impact of changes in the budget with a quick turn around time to report.

  • Once Adaptive was deployed we shorten our budget input cycle from about 1 month to 1 week for user inputs. Allowing more time to do meaningful analysis
  • With the use of office connect for BoD package reporting, I am able to quickly update a BoD deck. It usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour to change the settings in my standard reports and once this is done, if I make a change to the data in Adaptive, I can update the base reports and my PowerPoint slides are updated in a matter of seconds to minutes.
  • I estimated we save 1 to 2 FPA headcount because of Adaptive.
  • I have a 3 Year license agreement with Adaptive and because of this we receive multi year discounts.

  • Budget process has been shortened, while at the same time allowing greater detail. Visibility of prior activities across multiple years has provided greater understanding of the budget/forecast at the lower levels of the company.
  • Month End reporting cycles have been simplified and shortened. Reliability is increased as errors in data transfer between spreadsheets and/or files have been eliminated.
  • Weekly reporting to operating groups is now provided with significantly less resources in the accounting group. Accounting team members are able to concentrate more on accuracy in the accounting entries and less on data entry into reports.

  • The impact on ROI is definitely positive. We have a model that excludes the Adaptive Discovery tool and it costs us around $45K for approximately 30 users. We focus more on analyzing our data instead of trying to compile various spreadsheets. We are constantly updating and improving our model.
  • By having such a nice interface and getting more people involved in our forecasting/budgeting process the quality of our forecasts have improved.
  • Once you have budgeting/forecasting process done as a normal monthly process it is not as much of a drain on the organization as doing one annual budget a year.
