Workday Human Capital Management

The whole organization uses to manage our pay, benefits, performance, feedback, time off, and time sheets for folks who need to submit those. It makes a lot of processes that could be done manually or over spreadsheets automated and simple. We also use it to manage things like healthcare and other benefit elections.
  • It's really easy to see my pay and how much I have been paid over time and where the different parts of my paycheck are going in regards to taxes, social security, 401k, etc.
  • Easy to give feedback to colleagues within the platform.
Cons
  • The search functionality is pretty bad. I'd love to be able to search for specific documents and have the search functionality bring them up (W2, April 2020 payslips). But it doesn't currently seem to recognize almost any search query
  • Its really hard to tell how the categories were created. For example if I want to find my W2 why is it hidden under Pay -> Tax documents but its not hidden under personal information -> worker documents. If your search functionality worked this would be less annoying.
  • The way you choose to collapse certain items is odd. Like in "personal information" there are 5 items shown up front and then it says "More (2)." The items are small, there is no reason to cut them off after only 5.
I believe that Workday Human Capital Management is well suited for companies that are looking to manage HR for a larger number of employees (at least 100). It seems like it would be more than is necessary below that but to be completely honest I do not work in HR and don't know. It also seems good for organizations that track hours worked.

Fun, Easy to Use Solution for HR!

At our organisation, we use Workday for internal communication, employee information systems, appreciation, and recognition. Workday applications: Workday has helped us tremendously to maintain coordination within the team and be able to communicate internal notes with each other. Workday has made Workforce management quite easy for us and we receive feedback from everyone that it keeps them engaged. In short Workday is like a Facebook for our internal team, it is fun and easy to use!
  • Recognition and Appreciation
  • Internal Communication
  • Workforce Management
Cons
  • Recognition : I wish Workday invested in more badges
  • Leaderboard : We have games within the organisation, A leaderboard would be nice to have
  • Profile : Sometimes individual profiles have missing information. I wish there was a way to make a few fields mandatory
Workforce Management : Workday has helped us tremendously here. We are able to create new profiles for new joinees, thus making onboarding quite easy. As we operate from two locations, Workday has helped in keeping internal communication within the team alive! Recognition : Managers are able to recognise their teams through Workday, this is quite encouraging for our folks, Recognition and appreciation is not limited to mangers and peer to peer recognition is something which we are still exploring Something that might help us in this area, is if there was an option to praise our peers directly, or assign points to them. I wish Workday had a proper rewards and recognition platform too! We would be willing to invest money into something like this.

Overall great with all in one solution and easy to use.

Onboarding employees, using the timesheet to manage the work schedule and holidays. Also, using the workday for collecting different forms required at different stages to opt in/out for different policies. The Workday tool is also used to manage the employee's banking information, employee's career progress, annual appraisals, feedback, and sharing other policy details like the different parts in salary such as variable, stock, etc.
  • Simple UI.
  • Easy to onboard new user.
  • easy to understand option for editing or managing something.
Cons
  • Should have more option in time sheet like choose project code or something.
  • On The pay page, it should have options to view past salaries; it may be there already but not in the version that I use.
  • The employee information page does not have a back button to navigate to the previous page.
Workday human capital management is well suited for organizations to manage their employee records. It is also well suited for managing the employee's salary details, also the details of past salary changes, promotions, etc. It has options to keep track of employees' goals for the year, where they can keep track of their progress, and also managers can view the progress or share feedback. This is very helpful for tracking career progress and providing feedback. Other options, like training assigned to employees, can also be seen in Workday; users will get alerts by email for any new assignments or due assignments, etc.

Very intuitive UI and a great tool to use for new hire on boarding

We are using Workday Human Capital Management for many different reasons. The first one is for new hire onboarding. It's a great way to keep track of your progression in one single interface. Another use is for payslips. You can check all the details regarding salary. Finally, it's used for everything HR-related, such as requesting time off, or employee personal information. It is used by the whole company, and it allows us to streamline work performed by the HR department.
  • Keeps you on track.
  • Upload document in the same UI.
  • User-friendly.
Cons
  • Interactivity.
  • Lots of hidden functionality.
  • It could be overwhelming at first.
Workday Human Capital Management is well suited for keeping track for new hire onboarding. Tasks were assigned to me and I was able to submit everything from there to transfer over to the HR department. It was really an easy process for me.
I think it less suited for sales aspects, whenever you want to enter goal and attainment. It should stay focused on HR tasks.

Workday Human Capital Management

The entire organization is using Workday. With multiple types of employees (full- and part-time, permanent, temporary, 10- and 12-month), there was a need for a single, streamlined system that can be grown to meet the ever-changing needs of the university. The transition to the system for the end users was somewhat stress-free, and the option to sign in remotely or through a mobile device made the overall acceptance of this new system extremely high.

  • The mobile feature is superior. Little if any issues have been reported on this feature and it is very intuitive.
  • The ability to manage different types of employees in unique situations is handled with simplicity and focus. There are enough options and customizations in the system to allow for various needs.
Cons
  • Some of the processes are not necessarily easy to interpret, such as the difference in screens when looking at an overview of an employee. But, this comes with using the system.
In my current environment, there is a multitude of employee types: full time, part time, two different unions, student workers, temporary workers, permanent employees, 10 or 12-month staff, management, etc. Each of these types of employees has their own needs and their own processes for recording and being awarded time. With just so many different needs, Workday has been able to meet the specific requirements of each group while staying standardized so that the training and support staffs can easily assist the end users.
