Xactimate is widely used in the insurance industry and has become the go-to tool for property adjusters and contractors. Users find that Xactimate helps them create professional estimates and reports, saving valuable time in the process. The software's industry standard codes and pricing have made it a reliable and effective option for estimating claims. By simplifying the estimation process, Xactimate allows users to write estimates consistently and quickly with fewer errors. This is particularly beneficial in situations where there is a short timeframe to meet customers' needs, such as after a natural disaster. Restoration jobs can be efficiently estimated using Xactimate, improving overall efficiency and claim performance.
One of the key advantages of using Xactimate is its ability to generate reports easily, eliminating the hassle of manual calculations. Estimators appreciate the convenience of itemizing bills for projects using this software, making it an essential tool for businesses in the industry. However, it's worth noting that while many users find Xactimate to be a valuable tool that cuts the time to generate estimates in half, others have had negative experiences with customer service and found the software to be less user-friendly. Nonetheless, Xactimate remains the recommended choice for anyone in the insurance restoration or remodeling field due to its widespread adoption as an industry standard.
Efficient Sketching and Line Item Inclusion: Many users have expressed appreciation for Xactimate's capability to sketch and include line items in both sketch view and item view. This feature has been found extremely helpful by reviewers in their estimation work, allowing them to visually represent the project and accurately calculate costs.
Standard Industry Pricing and Professional Reports: The availability of standard industry pricing as well as professional reports tailored for adjusters and customers is highly valued by a significant number of users. These pricing resources ensure that estimations are based on accurate market rates, while the professional reports enhance communication with stakeholders, providing detailed breakdowns of costs.
Easy-to-Learn User-Friendly Software: Numerous users have praised Xactimate for being an easy software to learn. Its intuitive interface and straightforward navigation system make it accessible even to those without extensive technical knowledge. Additionally, users appreciate the regular updates that introduce new tools and features, ensuring that Xactimate remains user-friendly while keeping up with industry demands.
Low Pricing for Reconstruction: Some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the pricing for reconstruction in Xactimate, stating that it is too low and does not align with market value. Several reviewers have also mentioned difficulties in getting sub-contractors to agree on prices due to this issue.
Lack of Compatibility with Apple Devices: There is a demand among users for Xactimate to be available on Apple products. Many reviewers criticize the software for not keeping up with technology, particularly by still supporting Internet Explorer as the browser for the online version. Users find it frustrating that Xactimate crashes frequently and emphasize that it is not compatible with Apple devices.
Lack of Detailed Line Item Description: Reviewers have pointed out that there could be improvements in providing a more detailed line item description in Xactimate. Many users feel that there is a lack of information regarding what is included or excluded in each line item, which hinders effective communication with insurance adjusters and leads to subjective opinions. Additionally, some users find that the program lacks specific items, materials, or labor needed for a claim, making it challenging to explain pricing to someone unfamiliar with the program.

Great for Contractors who work with Insurance Companies
- Since Xactimate is used by Insurance Companies, the pricing lists are constantly updated. This means we will almost always have up-to-date pricing that matches the Insurance Companies.
- The ability to print different styles of reports is very valuable. Depending on who the report is for, you can exclude or include certain things accordingly.
- My supplement team let me know the training styles (for the beginner course) varied wildly depending on what instructor you got. The ones who took the course twice said they learned quite a bit from taking it twice as each instructor is so very different regarding teaching styles.
- Also, I think it would be wise to have a "computer basics" quiz that each training applicant must pass before they can sign up for the training course. All my people said it was frustrating to have our company pay so much for training when the whole class was slowed down by those who weren't familiar with the basics of a computer. Example: Right click vs. Left Click
- We were able to procure over 110K worth of additional funds due to supplements submitted and approved by Insurance companies last year (2017).
