Xactly Incent solves our problem of timely processing of sales commissions on a monthly basis. From analytics to pod messages, we use it for reports to sales, finance, HR, and operations. The software and interface is easy to use and understand as well as the rules when you need to either make quick changes or updates to existing rules. Documents in Xactly Incent are easily routed to the appropriate sales hierarchy for plan review and acceptance.
  • Processing commissions is easy
  • Administration is very easy to learn and pickup
  • Rules are easily configured or updated
  • Reporting is essential and analytics does a great job
  • Some tabs or categories can be provided for read only access but not all functions
  • Deleting hierarchy versions can be a bit confusing
Xactly Incent works well with small to large-scale companies. It has the capability to logic in the rules that can be built to handle complex sales plans and components. Like with all implementations, Xactly Incent works best when you know what your reporting and business needs are prior to implementation, with that, you can build and put as much details into Xactly Incent for reporting needs after. It is great for a small team to handle as it is very easy to learn the basics for users and administrators.

I mainly use Xactly to understand my commissions coming in from the previous month and to confirm I’m compensated correctly. In addition, it helps show my commissions earned throughout the year. I also use Xactly to track my performance throughout the year and quarter against my quota. I also sign any variable compensation reports within Xactly.

Xactly is fantastic for our growing organization. It has many features that we continue to uncover. It works very well for us because it integrates into our source system so that we do not manually upload orders, only if adjustments need to be made. End of month is fairly smooth with Xactly and it can integrate with HRIS for user setup and terminations.
We have just gained Insights and Benchmarking with Xactly. We have not started using these tools yet. There is also a tool called Analytics that can be used for sales reporting. We currently use the data from the orders, credits, and commissions files to determine performance and report out.

We use Xactly Incent within our organization to process commissions for our sales reps, as well as allowing them to drill into their sales performance each month. The product provides a site that allows the users to view their performance anywhere in the world, which is nice when they are on the road so much.

  • There is a little bit of setup needed to get everything set, like for a rebrand.
Xactly Incent is great for a sales organization that needs to track revenue and gives out commissions. It is easy to add users, titles, quotas, and hierarchy in order to stay on top of changes within the organization. I'm not really sure what else the software is used for, as my organization only uses it for this purpose. I could see how it might be a little bit of a pain to setup from nothing, if you needed a full reset or were starting from zero.

We used Xactly Incent and Analytics to manage sales incentives (quotas, stretch goals, base and kicker commissions, cross-sells, and other forms of incentives) within our organization. We had 4 business arms and the largest one within the US incorporates about 100 people and half of them were in our sales teams. With 2 managers having about 40 DRs with multiple “plans” within Xactly with attainment logics.
  • Calculating group plans for managers who didn’t get quotas but received revenue as a percentage of their DRs earnings
  • Using logic to differentiate different commission structures by product
  • Nullifying product commissions even if they generate revenue for those that do not qualify for commissions
  • Having proper org charts and detailed information on license types
  • It could have better ways to edit plans
  • Breaking quotas requires a monthly calculation instead of the system automatically pre-populating it after receiving the annual quota amount
  • Breaking the system between analytics and Incent
For all sorts of organizations that are trying to do away with on-sealable excel files and automate commission distribution practices. It can also house boilerplate documentation and execute approval processes so organizations with multiple managers like within consulting could do well with tools like Xactly Incent to compensate their staff

My company switched to Xactly Incent after running into contractual issues with our previous compensation software. They have been rolling out our implementation in phases. They were able to start our initial implementation very quickly, allowing us to avoid the need to manually calculate commissions when our previous software was shut off at the end of 2020. We currently use it for commissions and bonuses for our sales teams and are working towards expanding functionality to include bonuses for technical resources and sales SPIFs.
  • The team we have been working with at Xactly Incent has been fantastic. They have been able to efficiently translate our needs into functional design in Xactly and have been very quick to fix any issues that we have uncovered. Additionally, they have been very responsive to feedback and suggestions.
  • The analytics module offers a lot of flexibility for building out additional reporting and complements Xactly Incent very well. It is relatively easy for someone with moderate technical ability to pick up.
  • Xactly Incent does what we need in terms of commissions and bonuses. Results are accurate and are able to be processed daily in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Xactly Incent offers a wide variety of training on all of their different modules, including incent, analytics, and connect, allowing a high degree of flexibility if a business wants greater control over their configuration.
  • Xactly Incent was built with monthly and quarterly periods in mind. A business that uses a weekly or bi-weekly cadence for commissions requires a more customized implementation and will need to use analytics reports to supplement the built-in reporting.
  • Maintaining it can be clunky. There are many places where it feels like it could be more streamlined. For example:
  • *We needed to create copies of all compensation plans for 2022 even when there was no change to the plan configuration.
  • *When working with the hierarchy, there is no way to upload a small set of records to add to an existing version. Either the full hierarchy needs to be re-uploaded, or each record needs to be added manually.
Xactly Incent works best for a business that calculates compensation on a monthly and/or quarterly cadence. They'll do a great job of making the weekly or bi-weekly cadence work, but it will still feel like you're operating outside what the system is meant to do.
We have been continuing to work on expanding our ability to calculate compensation so we have not been able to work on this sort of analysis.

Xactly was able to integrate the home-grown database into their program and eliminate most of the manual processes that were in place. Today Xactly Incent is working great with our new updated systems (Dynamics, Salesforce)
  • Prior to 2020, we paid commissions on when an order shipped. This could be a year or more after booking the order. Xactly has the ability to look backward at quota attainment, rate, and comp plan details.
  • The new year comp plan set up is pretty easy and once it's set, you can trust it to work
  • I really enjoy their training classes. I've always learned exactly what I needed to and they give you a good baseline to understand how to figure some things out for yourself.
  • Xactly offers some free training and certificates, which is great.
  • I don't care for the "buckets" used for reporting. It would be nice if I can get all info in one report i.e. contract #, customer info, product info, item amount, attainment info, rate, calculation, payment, etc. This would eliminate the need to vlookup multiple reports.
  • Add a "select all" option on the download report icon. This would eliminate me having to delete one report at a time, which wouldn't be so horrible if it was just one click but it's not.
  • Updating the layouts of the exported reports and onscreen reports is not that user-friendly and is very time-consuming.
I think it's well suited for almost any type of customer. Once the plans are set up, it's really plugged and play and that point. However, if detailed reports are required then the Xactly user needs some Excel skills. Xactly does require the user to be analytical and detailed-minded if there is an issue with the setup. If the person is not process-minded, they may have difficulty finding the error.

Xactly is used to issue commission plans and calculate credits and commission against those issued plans. Plan types are varied ~35 versions across ~800 users. Xactly gives end-user access to statements and transparency to commission calculations which can be tied back to source system data, allowing reps to spend less time reconciling data and more time selling.
  • Processing large quantities of data in a short space of time against a set of specific rules.
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency of data across large volumes of calculations.
  • Giving end user visibility as soon as data is processed.
  • Allowing users to raise queries directly in the system.
  • Give advance notice of roadmap deliverables. eg expected in 6-12 months.
  • Provide ability for users to append screenshots to queries made via the application.
Xactly is well suited to large, complex data sets whereby many different plan structures and rules are in place. As long as a rule can be written, Xactly can calculate commission based on data inputs faster and more accurately than other methods. The Analytics suite is less user intuitive than other systems and could benefit from some development and user input to unleash the full potential of this feature.

We use it for sales, sale engineer, SDR, PS, and CS commissions. Our comp plans can be complicated and there are several components to keep track of for each. We're solving for paying commissions accurately and providing visibility into how commissions are calculated. We also have spiffs added in the middle of the year.

  • There is not AI to alert when something looks incorrect (very large or no payment)
It's well suited if for medium complexity, finance or ops driven commission calculation. It works well when customers have a Salesforce admin as well to create the fields and formulas needed in SFDC to make the xactly implementation easier for the admin.
We do monte carlo analysis every year to make sure we arent coming up with any crazy incentives and stick to industry benchmarks for overall commission rates. The majority of the work goes into the account executives as that is where the largest quantity is and where the biggest risks are.

It is time-saving and helps us to reduce manual calculations for commission bonuses and other incentives. With Xactly Incent our team can be more productive and mitigate any risks or human error. Xactly Incent also helps sales reps to have visibility of their monthly commissions earned through their incentive statement.

Xactly is a top-notch system that can handle all kinds of incentive scenarios. However, it also requires a lot of maintenance to keep running effectively post-implementation. I would not recommend this system for a company that is looking to achieve cost savings through automation and the reduction of compensation specialist headcount. In all likelihood, you will need to increase your staffing on the HR side to effectively maintain the system. However, Xactly can provide cost savings in terms of its ability to accurately calculate commissions for a large organization. Cost savings can be achieved through the reduction of calculation errors, miscommunication of results to employees, etc.
We regularly use data from Xactly Incent to monitor compensation expenses across a wide variety of metrics. Xactly Incent proved very useful to us in identifying business units that were overpaying employees and reducing profitability. It also allows us to easily calculate average payouts for individual roles/job bands, etc.

We currently use Xactly for our whole Sales organization. We have just launched the system at the beginning of our fiscal year and we have successfully added 3 out of our 7 Sales departments into the tool. It's been the best thing to happen to our organization regarding compensation. Our success rate is high and our Sales teams love the interface. Previously, I was calculating commissions out of a Google spreadsheet; and while working on numbers manually can be easier to adjust, it was costing me my time to work on other tasks. Xactly helped me better my time management and prevented mistakes that I would make on a spreadsheet. I would always recommend Xactly to anyone who is dealing with complex compensation models. It's no wonder they are a top leader in their field.

  • Adjustments to orders can be a little complex (should be as easy as manually adjusting an order in a spreadsheet)
It has everything you need in a commission tool (and more). You get detailed reports that you can share to payroll and accounting, Sales Reps and managers can see all their closed deals in one window, and you can sleep at night knowing you do not need to provide over 50+ commission statements to people. Talk about getting your time back.
Although it's a great tool, it can always use improvements. It needs to be more modernized to how competitors are dishing out their compensation tools. It's really the tool you need for simple and accurate commissions for your organization.
We are constantly analyzing the trends on payments released and sending this data to stakeholders to better improve our sales organization. If we notice payments are usually higher in one team compared to others, it gives us an idea on how we can improve on these areas for future months and quarters.

Xactly is used by our US and International sales team members. We also warehouse bonuses which are calculated externally to have a one source location.
  • Easy to upload batches.
  • The admin can perform certain processes without waiting until process cycles occur.
  • User can easily access the system.
  • Setting up calendars so that they appear on the Analytics reporting needs to be improved, There are entirely too many steps in this process and I always have to have the Support team assist with this process.
  • Needs to have a method so if one rep in a batch has an error, you do not have to remove, re-upload, and process the entire batch.
  • It would be great if actions taken would have immediate updating to the various reports, so you are not waiting on the 2 hour processing to occur to see the results.
If an organization does smaller batch processing and there transactions are not complex, I think Xactly would be the perfect choice, however the more complex the compensation plans are, I seem to run into issues setting them up in Xactly.

Xactly Incent is currently being used by our company to manage our global commissions process. There is one central team that maintains the people records, and a few individual teams across the globe that process the commissions portion. On a monthly basis, these teams upload the company's results and utilize Incent to calculate commission payments for our sales employees. Because of Incent, we are able to customize plans for our individual sales teams, which makes processing these commission payments a lot easier.

We have used and implemented Xactly Incent internally and at customers to calculate and report on sales activity as well as revenue for our sales team, and Professional Services. [Xactly] Incent was used to manage scorecards and rankings for our sales leaders, and project teams. Professional Services and Sales use it to understand their pay requirements, while finance and sales ops use the analytics to drive better decisions for our leadership and customers alike. In most cases sales ops, sales and finance teams all use Xactly Incent because of the sharing of unified data. Customers have gone from inaccurate disjointed spreadsheets to global views providing the insight to better manage their business.

Xactly Incent does a great job when it comes to calculating commissions and the attainment of goals. Xactly [Incent] is by far the most comprehensive based on my years of experience deploying and using the product. It is so much easier to use than others we have deployed. Xactly [Incent] is great for larger companies or companies that have complex sales plans that require customization for your company's specific needs. It may not be well suited for smaller companies that don't have sales plan complexities or that can be handled by Excel spreadsheets or a simpler software.
Data insights is by far superior with Xactly Incent as it exposes details for analysis of the Sales plan, what's working or what requires adjustment. It can help identify where an team member may be need help to drive and improve the results. Very helpful to make the right decision when dealing and balancing sales and compensation requirements.

Xactly provides much more accountability and transparency than other tools or just lists in spreadsheets. However, without explanation of the rows or extensive training, it can be frustrating to try and understand why some numbers are set in various ways. There should be more support for managers to link or explain individual fields in Xactly rather than forcing users out to basic documentation. Unfortunately, the tool still does not encourage conversation and forces screen-sharing for live conversations with management to determine why numbers are as set in Xactly. Especially in the Covid era where many are remote 100% of the time and don't have face-to-face with management, it would be great to have a better interaction function.
The calculations are still related back to rolled-up numbers that are evaluated behind the scenes. Having the summary visibility in Xactly is beneficial but more linkage to internal data could provide more visibility and clarity. The calculations based on targets [are] easy to understand within Xactly. More notes and comments would be welcome.

Our organization uses Xactly Incent to manage the Variable Compensation process. This includes all workflow routing to employees with VC plans, employees accepting/signing those plans, management approval of plans, company communication of results and payouts, etc. Historical tracking with routing and approval dates and timestamps is also provided to employees.
  • Easy approvals through on-screen clicks in the proper fields.
  • Clear availability of historical tracking information.
  • Good on-screen cues for any To Do's.
  • In the Document Management List, you have to click on the View icon - the entire row should be clickable for the View action, not just the icon.
  • I see no way to select a single item in my Document Management List, and then Download that. Clicking Download only seems to be for All items.
  • After performing a Search, that yielded, say, 2 items - I see no way to easily refresh to the full list again. I click the browser refresh and it takes me all the way back to top-level navigation, which is a pain.
Xactly Incent is actually very well suited for the types of functions that I must perform in my daily job. I like the way I receive email notifications and know I have things to take care of in the tool. The ability to digitally sign Variable Compensation plans is very good instead of having to print hard copies, signing, and then having to convert hard copy to digital. The tool providing us with the ability to pull up previously approved plans, see the dates plans were approved/routed is extremely handy. All of the things that I require are accounted for in the tool.

Xactly was introduced to Schindler Elevator Corporate in 2018 and we used it as a platform to build the incentive system for the sales team (both New Installations and Existing Installations).
  • It is a friendly user interface.
  • It is linked to the company database.
  • It is a dynamic system.
  • When adding more triggers to evaluate the eligibility, it shows that the system has challenges to adapt to the changes.
  • For example, if adding the DBA (collection status) as a trigger, the system cannot automate the calculation.
  • The system also does not clarify if the sales orders are being paid by the customers or not as a trigger to pay the sales rep. The customer needs to pay 50/50 even if the sales order is being canceled.
Incentives are being calculated manually by Excel.

Xactly Incent addresses the automation of commission calculations, along with the ease of accessibility for performance for the sales reps. It also helps managers understand where their sales reps are individually and as a team. We accomplish error free calculations and transparency to end users.

Analytics report writing is not the cumbersome. Getting a pay to performance all in one report is difficult. Stack Ranking report should be easy as it is a report that is built into dashboards, this should not have to be a report that needs to be built with formulas. There should be some standard pay to performance metric reports out of the box that should have to be paid for with Insights. Insights could be a great product but does not allow for the granularity that is needed for our organization.
Performance Analytics allow us to see how the comp plan is performing vs sales results. It also allows us to see where we may be paying too much or too little.

It's well suited for a company that wants a user-friendly and accurate commissions software to support their sales team. In my current company we don't use the Connect functionality to automatically get the data, but that ability to get information directly from Salesforce and other sources is great. I think if you have very one-off exception heavy plans, you won't get as much benefit from Incent (or any other commissions system).
We track types of sales, cost of sales, trends in companies, payouts etc. This year we have really built out the Analytics functionality to better understand trends etc. We also have been able to layer in some of our future sales forecasts to better forecast commission payments - even more relevant during Covid uncertainty.
It is a difficult system with more like back and forth messaging. I can't see tickets that others on my team have logged. It can be hard to get a real human answer or help.
It's easy to use and administrate. Our sales people like it.
