What is Zapier?

The Zapier Automation Platform is a platform designed to integrate data between web applications. Zapier automates the communication between apps by relying on “Triggers” within apps to catalyze pre-arranged actions, such as data formatting, and transfers of data between apps. The program featured pre-designed connections for more than 1,500 apps. It is scaled for small to mid-sized businesses and features a free version with limited connector complexity and quantities.

Zapier's goal is to enable automation for any process, allowing users to visualize and build advanced workflows with custom logic, conditions, and filters, with no code needed. Some features include:

  • Multi-step Zaps - Zaps that automate several tasks at once.
  • Paths - Zaps that perform different actions based on if/then logic.
  • Filters - These ensure Zaps run only when certain conditions are met.
  • Schedule - Zaps can be set to run whenever it's right for the process.
  • Formatter - Used to transform dates, currency, text, and more into any preferred format.
  • Webhooks - Can receive data from any service or send requests to URLs—without writing code or running servers.

Zapier's no-code automations include with 6,000+ app integrations from partners like Google, Salesforce, and Microsoft so users can collaborate across departments.

  • Saving a lot of time in developing integrations between systems, it takes as little as a tenth of the time, or even less than it used to to develop an API because of Zapier's easy to use Zap tool.
  • You can start with the free version of Zapier to see how you can save time with more simple integrations and see it work before you commit to a monthly or yearly subscription.
  • For developers and marketing agencies it's a nice add on for clients, without adding a lot of manual labor to go with it.

  • So far, it would be difficult to measure the ROI, but I appreciate that Zapier keeps track of the approximate number of minutes it has saved. It more than pays for itself with just one or two automations I use, let alone the other 100

  • Huge return on investment, positive impact. I've built simple integrations in an hour or two, that might have taken days to build with custom code. While I have a technical / programming background, I am not an active developer.
  • It saves us lots of manual work. There are ways we could have accomplished our goals without Zapier, but Zapier makes it better and easier. Saves developer time, and improves business processes and comms.

  • We are in Education so this is tough to answer, but we have experienced such a positive impact from the integration we have from Zapier as it applies to our Slack communication since it keeps our ultra-busy teams in constant contact and up to date with everything that is going on, which is so important for us.
  • The integration between Basecamp and Slack for us has enabled us to spend more time working on the actual projects instead of checking in on them for updates, and everyone knows that time = money!
  • Most importantly, not spending hours and hours of time programming into APIs when we need to connect some of our common software tools is priceless. Programming is expensive and Zapier is pretty inexpensive, it's a no-brainer!

  • I gained increased ROI from all of my tools by connecting them (consistent, holistic data sources)
  • I saved money by not needing a developer in some cases.
  • I saved time because Zapier is simple, and I don't have to bother sifting through API documentation.

  • With Zapier, WPForms and GetResponse, we were able to create a basic salesforce-integrated marketing automation system for less than $50/month, which is, at minimum, $200/month less than our next best option. Leads are captured and registered automatically for our two Salesforce admins, and we have a much more practical means of tracking prospects.

  • It means we can deliver things faster without needing to build code
  • You don't need to use dev time to do something that would traditionaly need a developer
  • You can improve products or create features that would usually be paid for just by connecting another product via zapier

  • Zapier helped us save a lot of time on tasks that were supposed to be performed manually, but we automated them using the tool.
  • When we used Zapier to implement tasks related to Trello and Slack, it made our team collaboration more clear and status updates were more easy to follow.

  • Reduced development cost and need for developers in-house to help with marketing integrations.
  • Allowed for highly complex automations to be created, allowing us to capture and nurture leads much more effectively, thus enriching our sales pipeline.
  • It has saved our marketing team a lot of precious time by allowing us to automate tedious tasks.

  • Zapier costs $50/month and we receive a 50-100x multiplier in terms of business value from Zapier. It is almost impossible to calculate the immense value in return from some of our most used workflows in Zapier. In many cases, we do not even use the built in workflows for enterprise apps like OFC and SFDC because Zapier does a better job.

  • Zapier has allowed me to leave the monotonous tasks up to my zaps and pre-built setup, rather than having to do everything myself. That allows me to focus more of my time on actually improving my online business, not data entry.
  • Zapier has saved me money throughout other various professional services I've paid for to run my business. Within some of those apps, I would've had to pay extra per month to achieve functionality and connectivity that I can already accomplish with Zapier. So, in that sense, it's definitely saved me money.

  • It's hard to quantify the ROI Zapier if you don't have a plan for where your time goes. We have tracked the time saved by using Zapier to around 5% a week. That's 2 hours each week that one of my staff isn't doing a very laborious task. The unrealized cost in our situation is that the staff member is now taking on more responsibility and isn't weighed down by mundane tasks.
  • Another ROI that we have seen is that our data is more accurate. You can never totally eliminate human error, but computer systems are great at highly repetitive tasks. Zapier excels at doing the same tasks as many times as you request.

  • Zapier has reduced the need for manual coordination of information between systems, saving significant time and reducing errors.
  • Zapier has allowed our team to consolidate notifications multiples platform into a single system making it easier to see what is going on for a client across multiple systems.
  • Zapier quickly pays for itself in efficiency gains and opens the door to new opportunities through integrations that would be too complex to build or manage on their own.
