What is Zapier?

The Zapier Automation Platform is a platform designed to integrate data between web applications. Zapier automates the communication between apps by relying on “Triggers” within apps to catalyze pre-arranged actions, such as data formatting, and transfers of data between apps. The program featured pre-designed connections for more than 1,500 apps. It is scaled for small to mid-sized businesses and features a free version with limited connector complexity and quantities.

Zapier's goal is to enable automation for any process, allowing users to visualize and build advanced workflows with custom logic, conditions, and filters, with no code needed. Some features include:

  • Multi-step Zaps - Zaps that automate several tasks at once.
  • Paths - Zaps that perform different actions based on if/then logic.
  • Filters - These ensure Zaps run only when certain conditions are met.
  • Schedule - Zaps can be set to run whenever it's right for the process.
  • Formatter - Used to transform dates, currency, text, and more into any preferred format.
  • Webhooks - Can receive data from any service or send requests to URLs—without writing code or running servers.

Zapier's no-code automations include with 6,000+ app integrations from partners like Google, Salesforce, and Microsoft so users can collaborate across departments.

We use Zapier across a number of departments. Mostly it's to link apps or systems that don't have pre-built integrations to each other. For some cases, we also use Zapier to build workflows that can't be achieved in other apps, using Zapier utilities like storage, formatter and equations to update data or trigger other processes and then send back to the same application.
In general, this helps us scale faster because we don't have to wait for lengthy dev builds using APIs to achieve a similar result.

Zapier saves time. We use it in every functional role from automating emails, invoices, document creation, file creation, notifications, and more. It can be used by almost any department as long as you're using cloud software that integrates w/ Zapier (most do).

We use Zapier for both operational workflows as well as marketing purposes. We use Zapier to connect our Facebook ads to our CRM system ONTRAPORT, and in turn to add newly added contacts to other systems to automate our workflows. We also use Zapier for our clients - connecting our clients' payment systems such as Square and other point of sales, to marketing automation software that follows up for a review, then based on the response, adding their customers into a long-term follow-up campaign. We like how simple and quick it is to combine multiple software with Zapier.

Since we move very quickly we don't have the time to draw out a network plan, and figure out what it touches, evaluate that and then implement. We started with the free plan testing out some "zaps" and went to the paid "Starter" subscription. I'm not a network admin by any stretch of the imagination and was able to figure it out through a little trial and error, Zapier help and a sprinkle of Google.
We use Zapier in our support department currently, but it supplements the whole organization as it has automated the consolidation of client issues. Before, we had a hodgepodge of disparate places where support "tickets" were kept in disparate locations throughout our network.
What was surprising is how many different applications it can be used for. We've used it to unlock Basecamp, Trello, and front currently. In the future, I can see it being used to help us integrate directly into SFDC for sending over aggregate support information for our QBR's.
Clearly, there is untapped business value. It'll scale with us and they're responsive.

I first approached Zapier as an integration tool. I wanted to get my tools to play nice with each other, and Zapier helped with that. As I identified lots of processes needing automating, identified relationships between them, and began automating the flow of data between my apps. Zapier is not a total source integration tool, but rather, an automation engine. I use PieSync for 2-way contact sync between apps that just need to share contact data, but Zapier for all my forms. Typeform + Zapier is an amazing combination. Pipedrive and Zapier are a powerful combo too. I'm always thinking of new automations to use. SQL + Zapier + BirdEye is an amazing tool, and worth the price of admission alone.

Every business, large or small, can utilize Zapier to do more with less!

I use Zapier both for our startup work and personally. In both cases, I use a wide range of SaaS apps that manage data (from Intercom and Mixpanel to Gmail, Wunderlist and Flowdock and Slack). Zapier allows me to easily integrate these various systems. For example, our startup uses Chargify to manage subscriptions, and CA Flowdock for team chat and notifications. When a new customer subscribes (in Chargify), I can have Zapier automatically alert my team in Flowdock.

In our area of the institution, we focus a lot on integration. My focus more specifically is directed towards integrations as it applies to the technology we use across the institution, so you can tell easily why we would be interested in a product like Zapier. I use Zapier to create quick connective solutions between existing software without needing to spend extensive time programming.

I have to say, I absolutely LOVE Zapier!!! It is being used by only myself, the IT manager. Previously, data was static in Google Sheets. Now with one trigger (new row in Google Sheets) multiple actions are automatic (email added to MailChimp, data added to our CRM, welcome email generated, notification emails sent to staff). The options are almost endless. Totally customizable to how your organization does business. Did I say I LOVE Zapier?!!

The problem Zapier solves is that we're surrounded by incredible technologies, but many of them don't integrate. Without integration, data is silo'ed and often, much of the business value is lost. Zapier is used to connect applications without native integrations into a smooth data flow.

Zapier is primarily used for our marketing, but with its seamless Salesforce integration, we've been able to improve our sales efforts by creating leads automatically and tracking them with a low cost automation system. Basically, we use Zapier to link our contact forms on our website (made with WPForms) to our Salesforce Lightning Cloud (lead generation - creates a new lead) and our GetResponse platform (grows newsletter lists, schedules autoresponders, etc).

Zapier is used across the whole business. We use it to connect various services together whether it be parts of our website or connections between third-party apps. So it's used pretty much everywhere any SaaS or cloud product is used. It helps us link different services, or add functionality to services where there are gaps in what they offer over what we need.

Zapier is a fantastic tool that saves us a lot of time. We started using it for transferring new signups from our Mailchimp account to our CRM, but later added more complex zaps like dealing with Trello tasks, posting updates on specific Slack channels and so on. They have thousands of integrations with all the popular products, so it's easy to find and automate almost any task you want. You basically create a zap, add the steps that needs to be done, test it and push it to live. And it works like magic.

Zapier is being used by the Marketing & Sales departments. We're using it to integrate systems across different parts of the business and our online properties. I couldn't think of a different way to perform such tasks and product inter-connectivity if it wasn't for Zapier. The integration work would cost a lot more if we weren't using it.

Zapier is a great tool to integrate different software together and save time during reporting. We use for our monthly lead reporting as well as for form submissions. There are so many integrations to connect through zapier that otherwise wouldn't talk to one another without a developer.

We have used Zapier to trigger alerts in pager duty when we received a chat message in slack. With only a few employees it is critical that all of us are notified of the potential customer who is chatting with us so we can jump into slack and start communicating with the potential customer.

We use Zapier to provide missing links between different applications and software. For example, we record a webinar with AnyMeeting and a task is created in Asana for someone to post the recording in our members area by the next day. We also have Zapier email invoices and payments from Infusionsoft to our bookkeeper. Zapier also collects Facebook Lead Ads and pushes them into our clients' MailChimp account.

We use Zapier to connect many of our core SaaS apps to Google, especially Sheets, and create new workflows regularly to aid the business. Many of the instantiations of Zapier allow previously unconnectable apps (e.g. Filemaker and Google Sheets) to connect seamlessly. Additionally, it is used by multiple departments across the organization for alerts to indicate conclusion of a workflow (e.g. New Hire and Termination approvals, et al).

We use Zapier to provide a data-sharing interface between disparate web-based information systems such as between Gravity Forms and various CRMs. It provides the "missing link" between the solutions that we like best and which don't happen to provide an easy to use API for us to take advantage of.

We used it as a plugin to integrate with HubSpot CRM Software. The purpose of us using Zapier was to connect HubSpot with our form fills (leads) that were coming from our landing page and automatically generate a list using those specific leads in HubSpot so that our sales team could easily access them.

Zapier is being used at 360º Video Academy as a tool to automate and link apps and services that we'd otherwise need to hire a developer for. It helps us with automating email list sign-ups, purchasing and customer statistics, important notifications, and most importantly, helps us automate things by allowing us to set up zaps to send data from specific capture apps to any other apps Zapier supports. It saves us money by allowing us to set up our own automations with Zapier's simple zap creator, rather than having to hire someone else to do it. Another thing we like about Zapier is being able to tweak things, data, zaps, etc. as our company changes/evolves. We don't need to hire someone every time we need to make a change which would take lots of time (waiting for a developer to have a free enough schedule to help us out,) and saves us lots of money. I can't say enough good about Zapier. If you want to take the vast majority of busy work out of your work day–especially if you're a small team of internet entrepreneurs–Zapier should be your go-to service.

We utilize Zapier as a way to create links across multiple software packages. We mainly use Zapier in our creative department as we create analytics dashboards for projects in the queue, responses to projects, website traffic, to-do tasks for each of our team members and as a way to help outside departments stay connected to data that they interact with. We feel that Zapier has helped us solve a connection issue between different data sets and projects across multiple websites. While Zapier is mainly used in our creative department, it is connecting other departments to my department as we feed information to other areas of our organization.

Zapier is being used by several departments in our organization. We use WuFoo to send forms to customers, as well as capture information from our internal staff. One of the downsides to WuFoo is that their reporting is limited to users of their platform. Zapier has allowed us to sync form results from WuFoo and put them into a shared Google Sheet, eliminating the need to export the report and email it to others within our organization. Now, all we have to do is go the appropriate Google Form to view current, up-to-date information.

We are an online marketing agency. We use Zapier to connect online services for our own use and for our clients. In many cases it works as complete integration, saving us the trouble of working directly with (and having to support) APIs from multiple services. In other cases, it helps to supplement other connections between systems.
