We were formerly a Skype shop which worked great for internal IM and phone, yet, when we attempted to share content outside the organization the ability to do so never worked. We then turned our attention to Cisco WebEx which provided the collaboration externally but was expensive to deploy and now some users were required to have two platforms for which to hold meetings and we had to support two platforms. We then started looking at Office 365 with Teams but due to infrastructure requirements and licensing E3 vs E5 discussions, we decided to go with Zoom due to its simple ability to just work when a user gets provisioned using SSO authentication to our AD. It provides a single point of use for IM, Meetings, content sharing with annotation, and works every time.

Zoom is easier to access and it doesn't fail like Webex does. I have issues getting into a Webex meeting all the time. I have to click on it multiple times to access or call the owner to figure out why I can't access the meeting. Very frustrating when you are trying to join a meeting on the run.

We previously used Google Hangouts and did not have a great experience. Part of this is because there are limitations to how many employees can be in the same meeting. We had several people get booted from a company meeting on several occasions, which doesn't help employee morale or company performance.

Zoom allows us to have more users connected. But, Google Hangouts has better, more consistent high def video quality. It also is much simpler to use and Zoom is drastically limited it seems by not having better integrations, smoother logins processes, and more visible features. So if you allow Oauth and SSO, then you should make that more visible and clear to users, when your tool recognizes that the login process is a hassle.

Ugh. I've been in the Audio Visual Video Conference business for a bit now..... Lifesize, Webex, Goto Meeting, BlueJeans, Tandberg, Polycom, Cisco TMS, Crestron, AMX, SVSi, ClearOne, BiAmp, Extron and on and on ...
The wireless sharing of Zoom is the bee's knees and eliminates probably 90% of AV support calls. If clarity improves, I'll probably get rid of HDMI cables in small and medium conference rooms.
Users seem to just get Zoom and understand it after a few times. So that has probably freed up a lot of time for me-- time that I would be spending on support tickets, calls, and training.
