How Zoom Differs From Its Competitors

Yes, we have one Zoom Room. It works phenomenally. We use an iPad to fire up the meeting and dual monitors to see both the shared content and video screens. My boss really likes that the Zoom Room displays his scheduled meetings for the day. It keeps him from having to dig into his Outlook calendar.

  • When I started at my company three years ago, we were using GoToMeetings and Hangouts and it was terribly disorganized. I have OCD with all things digital and Zoom helped clean up a lot of the gaps that we had when it came to our daily web communication use. With the removal of Skype for Business recently, we have fully migrated to using Zoom Chat for our interoffice communications.
  • As a non-profit, cost savings are always a big deal. It is also very helpful that you can simply ad and remove licenses when needed. Using our Zoom Rooms, not everyone requires Pro Licenses unless they are remotely utilizing the software.

  • We've seen definite cost savings in how conference rooms are built and how long they take to install.
  • We are still struggling to get all of our end users to use video all the time, but it is getting better! Most meetings that take place in Zoom Rooms are being held on camera.
  • Zoom has really opened up people's collaboration with other teams and companies around the world. The fact that 'it just works' means we don't have to spend time connecting with an operator, setting dial-in parameters, or setting hardware up to accommodate.

  • It has made my business more difficult because they haven't been very channel-friendly.
  • We help organizations get grants to purchase solutions. Zoom makes it difficult to promote their product because of their current channel model, although it appears to be improving.

  • We are now reaching more students and delivering distance classes more frequently.
