Zscaler Internet Access is an internet tunnel that pairs with the network adapter to secure traffic between servers and workstations. It can refresh policies automatically and log intrusions but does not broadcast intrusions. Cloud-based Zscaler Internet Access is easy to deploy and scale, with no hardware or software needed. In a hybrid model, Zscaler Internet Access performs some security functions on-premises and others in the cloud, allowing organizations to keep infrastructure. There is a slight learning curve from VPN and appliance architecture to this paradigm.

Zscaler is well suited if you have a work force which is 90-100% remote and you don't have to worry about any on-premise solution. In these cases all you have to do is set up your Zscaler and push credentials to your end users and they are good to go. Zscaler simply doesn't have any solutions if you have physical offices. This means you need to maintain separate firewalls (On-prem NGFW and Zscaler), separate contracts, separate points of contact and separate documentation and training.

In the Middle East region with strict data laws or countries where there is a law that critical network devices have to be maintained in the country this might not be the right solution as Zscaler doesn't have data centres in every country. Also some organisations like the government's compliance policy might not permit a solution like Zscaler because the security team does not have much control of the product.

Zscaler Internet Access is a great solution to add more layers of security to browsing, mitigating access to malicious sites or sites that contain fraudulent content. In addition to bringing more visibility over applications that IT does not have vision (shadow IT). ZIA is a solution that adds value to the business, its infrastructure is fast and for the end-user allocated to the endpoint, the experience is very pleasant and transparent.

Distributed and remote workforce, this can provide similar protection and visibility that one would normally have in a corporate environment that protects users and endpoint. Zscaler (ZIA) gives you that NIDS/NIPS protection which makes my job as a security engineer much easier. Gives me better peace of mind for sure.

[Zscaler Internet Access] is very well suited for scenarios where one is looking for hassle free internet and network connection. It ensures that your users can connect to any networks and they will be secure. Additional plus is ability to deploy Zscaler client to your company smartphones - this gives complete network protection. We only encounter a few issues with Zscaler Internet Access (mainly false-positives) but these were promptly resolve by the vendor.

Zscaler Internet Access is suited very well where company is very big and distributed across the world and have lot of users in different part of the world accessing the net.
It is less appropriate for a small company and cost wise unviable for them if users are less.

Zscaler is suited for organizations where a lot of employees work remotely and need to access a lot of cloud-based applications. It enables an organization to filter out content and applications that don't adhere to policies. It provides a scalable on-demand solution with over 150 data centers to allow users to have low latency in connection.

As far as content filtering goes, Zscaler has met all of our needs. We feel that is doing the job well but we also feel like we could get more out of it. The ability for a downloaded file to be ran in a sandbox before delivering to the use is an awesome feature. The end user gets frustrated that they have to wait up to 10 minutes to receive their download but from a security standpoint it is working well.

I think the Zscaler platform is pretty well suited for short-scale networks/architectures since is hard to segment and a single error could bring down operations in your company - we've had a couple of those. At some point, the lack of flexibility has forced the implementation to take a whitelisting approach rather than a blacklisting/behavior/anomaly approach.

If you're looking to ramp up your Cyber Security operations, Zscaler is a must-see. Their demos are great and the implementation is fairly painless. DAS helps you to get it set up and ensure success.

The absolute benefit of Zscaler is that it was born in the cloud and thus has no hybrid hangovers such as working with legacy proxy servers. Thus it is a clean system to configure and deploy.
It is a cloud service therefore you need to consider latency and internet traffic flows between your location and their pop. Zscaler have a large footprint to minimize that impact but it is worth examining with your ISP because the most obvious traffic route is not always the result you get.
The net result is that your optimum connection is within a different country which helps performance but geo-location / google searches could confuse people
