Overall Satisfaction with 1Password

1Password is being used on an individual basis by employees across the organization to manage collections of passwords for different services. For example, we use a variety of different web-based services that all have different logins and are connected to different systems, so this helps us keep track of passwords for these different services in a simple, effective manner. It addresses the business problem of keeping track of multiple passwords securely and efficiently.
  • It integrates into the browser, which is convenient
  • It is easy to use, which is important for usage vs alternatives
  • It is secure, which is the primary purpose of the passwords
  • 1Password could be extended to support more operating systems
  • The price of 1Password could be reduced to make it more economical for personal use
  • The addition of different profiles would help extend the usability of 1Password
  • The overall functionality of maintaining passwords
  • The security involved in maintaining and storing those passwords
  • The ease of use in deploying across the organization
  • It has improved employee efficiency in using different services
  • It has helped us incorporate additional web-based tools without worrying about maintaining separate login systems
  • It has saved us expenditures on security for these processes
Outside of 1Password, we used built-in browser password managers (Chrome, FireFox) to keep track of multiple different passwords. While this was fine, it did not allow for a scalable solution which we could easily use across the organization. We found 1Password to be a superior solution which allows for us to accomplish keeping track of multiple passwords in a more effective way.

The specific scenarios where 1Password is very useful would be when keeping track of multiple different passwords for multiple different services that all have different login systems. This is particular useful for different browser-based tools to aid with engineering activities. For any person trying to keep track of multiple different passwords, I would recommend 1Password. It is less useful in cases where there is a single sign on system across different systems, such as a universal Google/Facebook/LinkedIn login.
