When looking for a new eCommerce solution, I found many candidates, and one of them was 3dcart. I used it for a few weeks to see if it was what our company needed. Unfortunately, it was simply not as robust as some of the other options available. I also tried Shopify, WordPress, Magento, and BigCommerce. 3dcart was going to be our primary website host, but it did not offer everything we needed.
- 3dcart is a more basic website tool that can get customers started quickly.
- It only has a certain amount of options, making it an ok tool to use if you don't need a particularly large website.
- 3dcart doesn't provide enough customization options. Making it very limited for customers.
- The layout and file structure takes some getting used to. This should be improved upon.
- Because 3dcart ended up not being the best for our business, we decided to go with BigCommerce instead.
- It was an excellent platform to consider, and we tried it for a time but quickly realized it did not provide what our business needed.
3dcart does not provide as much customization without having more knowledge of coding. The file structure takes some getting used to. Shopify is more of a jump start system. You can quickly get a Shopify website up and going in less than a day without any coding knowledge. BigCommerce is much the same as Shopify, it provides themes that are ready to go, and you add products. I didn't feel like 3dcart themes were updated enough that I could add products and not customize the storefront. We ended up not staying with 3dcart after trying out Shopify and BigCommerce.
