Overall Satisfaction with SDL Tridion

SDL Tridion was a product I used in my first internship at a local college where I took courses. The knowledge base around Tridion was scarce and bare minimum and with no training on the product at all. My goal was to learn Tridion and help other faculty members who wanted to develop their own departments website and broadcast new events or course offerings. As a Web Content Editor and liaison for the Dean of Sciences, I was allowed to train professors and administrative assistants in what I learned about the product and help contribute to Tridion's knowledge base. This also speaks to Tridion's simplicity as a product and how it allows users with a little to no technical experience pick it up in little to no time at all.

  • SDL Tridion has a simple functional design that allows users to stay organized and streamlined.
  • At first glance, Tridion can be overwhelming with the introduction of the SDL Tridion functional design.
  • The content versioning of this product is fairly average, and meets basic requirements.
  • A positive here would be how Tridion is simple, fast, and easy to use for any individual looking to break into Content Management.
  • A negative about Tridion is the process of update publishment. There are a lot of things that can go wrong if this is not implement correctly.
If I had the decision to renew SDL Tridion, I would in the hopes that this product would be developed on in a much greater fashion such that the functionality of this product gets greatly improved. More user documentation should be published as well for this product as the schema's and internal workings of Tridion.
I believe this product is well suited for companies and organizations that want to have its internal employees develop webpages on the fly without concerning themselves with the back end system. This product is also easy to train others in, and does not require a lot of knowledge in Java, .NET or HTML. It certainly helps to know these languages as if an issue arises it allows you to debug more closely.
