Overall Satisfaction with BusinessObjects SRC (Discontinued)

Our company is very diverse and Business Objects SRC has been able to satisfy all the budgeting and planning needs across the board. Regardless of the data to be reported on or the planning cycle and even the level of planning detail, we have not found anything that Business Objects SRC cannot do.
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Planning using trending and seasonality spreads
  • High level to very detailed analysis
  • One negative is being limited by the version of Excel that Business Objects SRC uses. On occasion a report or a query is maxed do to the row/column limitations.
  • Business Objects SRC drastically decreased the consolidated reporting time.
  • Business Objects SRC has made management reporting more efficient and more flexible, providing our management the information they really need, when and how they need it.
  • Budgeting takes far less time that in the past due to the ability to "seed" the budget with actuals as a starting point.
Business Objects SRC is more flexible than other products and that is especially important in a company where each division is completely different in how they operate, their KPIs, and their operating functions. It allows finance to decide what information is important at that time and does not take months of IT resources to meet management's immediate informational needs. Reporting and budgeting is easily updated when there is an addition or a deletion of a line of business. Finance is allowed to dice the information in any way to satisfy the current needs of the business.
The system is not always intuitive to a new user. However with some upfront training it is easy to catch on. A lot of the management is left in the hands of the users, in our company that would be finance. To us that is a great benefit, however, that may not work in all situations.
