Overall Satisfaction with Webex App

Jabber is helpful to connect me with my colleagues in different offices. It improves productivity by increasing communication speed and reducing email volume.

  • Groups to create a “chat room” with a group of colleagues
  • Quick communication
  • On-the-fly group messaging (vs establishing a group)
  • Default video for computer calls (should be off on default)
  • Screen sharing is glitchy
  • Productivity improvement
  • Reduced server space (fewer emails)
  • More personal connections
  • Google Hangouts
Group chat is much easier in hangouts but security features led my org to pick jabber.

Jabber is quite user-friendly, though automatic start-up has been difficult to navigate (we must log in to a VPN first, so auto-start is never the best option)
Best suited: quick communication with colleagues, screen share, remote calling/telecommuting, video conference. A good replacement for 1-2 sentence emails or stopping by a colleague’s office when that is not possible. Also good when on a call together and need to have a sidebar conversation. Good to leave a quick note when a colleague is away from their desk
Worst suited: group conversations, long communications, sharing documents or attachments. Does not replace meetings or in-person conversations completely.
