Overall Satisfaction with Vista by Viewpoint
We use Vista as our ERP. Our operations team also uses the product for project management. It is used at our corporate level for accounting and payroll. Each branch uses it for purchasing.
- Purchase orders by Job. You can manually upload large POs rather than typing them out line by line.
- Reporting. Vista comes with many valuable reports. You can also create custom reports and design anything you might need.
- AR/AP transactions are easy to create and track.
- Security setup. There are many places to remember to add/remove and update securities. It would make more sense to have one place.
- Standard Reports: depending upon the tables that are pulling data, the financial numbers can be different. You must really know what you are looking at and for to understand what the report is including.
- Customer Support: Many times it takes several responses back and forth before the issue is escalated or resolved.
- I believe our accounting department is very satisfied with the product as it is streamlined.
- Our other departments feel it is VERY time consuming to enter data into the system.
For the ERP piece, Vista is a solid product. We are slowing moving to other products away from Vista for Operations, Estimating and Bidding as other products do it better.

Pros | Cons |

Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Well integrated Feel confident using | Requires technical support Inconsistent Lots to learn |
- Creating Subcontracts are quite easy. It pulls data from stored values and creates it for you.
- Reporting - the product comes with many standard reports that are easily customizable.
- Customization - The system makes it very easy to add custom fields from txt, dropdown lists to radio buttons.
- It only integrates with a small amount of select products. Not Open API friendly.
- You can do the same function in many places. Can confuse people when troubleshooting issues. (Example, you can create a PO under the PO area as well as Project Management area. Depending on which process, the data is stored in different tables so your reports might not reflect the same information.)
- Support is grouped by area of the product. If you have an issue that falls between two areas it can be a struggle to resolve as there aren't enough support staff that is trained across areas.
