Overall Satisfaction with HPE Nimble Storage

It is used as the primary and secondary Sans. I put it in 5 years ago and then last year we upgraded to an all-flash array with 2x the storage we had. It stored all the server virtual machines, and with the second one, it provided replication for all production high-level virtual machines.
  • Fast
  • Set and forget
  • Infosite took a bit to actually pull value out of it. Great overall.
  • Better documentation on what happens when data stores are deleted.
  • Didn't take much time from me.
  • Very little maintenance required.
We had some legacy EqualLogic that needed lots of care and feeding and performed on a so so rating. The Tintri appeared to perform well, it had some cutting edge things in the management of virtual machine data stores and siloing them out (pre-release of VVOLs). The price difference wasn't worth it and with the release of VVols, those features were brought into the Nimble storage.
Great support when I called.

Do you think HPE Nimble Storage delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with HPE Nimble Storage's feature set?

Yes

Did HPE Nimble Storage live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of HPE Nimble Storage go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy HPE Nimble Storage again?

Yes

Pretty much any medium or high-performance applications and server hosting. I would use it where you need a traditional SAN. The models we had were the hybrid or all-flash. On the market, they have similar performance specs, but in real-time use, the all-flash array did laps around the hybrid flash one.
