Overall Satisfaction with DB2

DB2 is used as the foundation of several high-profile business applications, such as ERP and Tax calculation. These applications are critical to the day-to-day operations of the business. We depend on the reliability of the database for these applications. DB2 addresses these problems by being a rock-solid, dependable, manageable, and recoverable platforms for the business.
  • Rock-solid reliability
  • Highly manageable and cross-platform database
  • Application support
  • Lack of marketing by IBM
  • High reliability and increased uptimes
  • Supported platform migrations are dead simple.
DB2 is a similar product that is most respected. Oracle might be supported in a broader context, but DB2 is superior on every platform where the choice is there. Licensing is also a factor in which DB2 is much better, which might offset any cost differences. DB2 support is also much better at all tiers.

Would you buy Db2 again?

Yes

ERP back-end databases and any other supported application that requires high uptime. The database server performs exceptionally well, and it is a more flexible licensing arrangement than Oracle in most circumstances. Easily manageable across multiple platforms and flexible in backup and recovery options.
DB2 is less appropriate if the cost is a primary factor, or if your application lacks adequate support for it. Connectivity is excellent for the first level of support is lacking; high tiers are top-notch.
