Cisco Headset 700 Series

Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Headset 700 Series

My team and I [were] each offered the Cisco Headset 700 Series headset to try out. So only a small team is currently using the headset. Generally, my team would travel regularly between offices which made this headset the ideal candidate for [traveling] due to the wireless capabilities of the device.
  • Compact and comes with protective hard shell case.
  • Has music capabilities for skipping songs which some other headsets don't have.
  • Sleek and modern looking.
  • Noise cancellation is good compared to Plantronics but not as good as Jabra.
  • My biggest problem with the headset is the tension of the headband. When I asked my team what their biggest complaint was, they all responded with the answer; Too tight. I tried wearing this for a couple of back-to-back meetings and I was forced to switch headset towards the end. The flip side of this is that it doesn't easily fall off when on the move but personally I'd prefer a more comfortable fit.
  • Small complaint but annoying... When folding the headset for storage, you have to flip it over before folding the [earpieces] downward to fit in the box. The alternative is to simply store the headset with the [earpieces] facing upwards. (Small OCD problem.)
  • None so far. Only used within small team.
Fairly easy to navigate between the buttons. I did have to refer back to the original cheat sheet that was included in the box but answering or ending calls, listening to music, mute, pairing a new device all became fairly easy to use functions.
I share an office with my wife and both of us are on regular conference calls throughout the day. The noise cancellation function works well when both of us are on the phone but I wouldn't say it is better than my Jabra Evolve 75. When it comes to music I'd say the audio quality is better than the Jabra with deeper [bass] sounds.
I used the app to upgrade the firmware and also made a few changes to the settings which [were] handy to do. Once configured you don't have to spend too much time in the app but it does come in handy for [customizing] the device.
I regularly try out new headsets but I tend to stick with what works best. My three top headsets are:
1) Jabra Evolve 75 - This has a boom mic [that automatically] mutes when lifted - Great feature when on regular calls! ANC works very [well.] Similar to the Cisco headset this doesn't have over-the-ear cups but the ANC works slightly better than the Cisco unit.
2) Jabra Evolve 85 - This is an over-the-ear model which has [superb] ANC. Also extremely comfortable with a well-designed desktop charger and [a] sleek boom mic that folds away into the right-hand ear cup. One thing to note with this headset compared to the Evolve 75 and Cisco is that it takes a while to get used to not being able to hear yourself when ANC is on. Once you get [past] that, you do feel like you're in a different and completely isolated space. Very little ambient noise gets in.
3) Cisco 700 series
Works well for most applications, whether it be audio/video conferences or listening to music. At the same time, I would say it is not appropriate in most scenarios where it has to be used for 60mins or longer at a time.
