Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We use Acquia DAM (Widen) Collective across departments to share a bunch of different kinds of assets: vectors, stock photos, in-house photography, logos, and those kinds of things. One team has full access to upload and modify assets, while other teams can only see the files they need to do their specific work.
  • Uploading photos, including accessible metadata.
  • Versioning image files, including access to previous versions.
  • Ability to create collections of assets.
  • Search filters are redundant or hard to stack.
  • Image previews are clunky and unhelpful.
  • Can't search two things at once — if you search "cars" in one tab, then "birds" in a second tab, the first tab will start showing you birds when you continue to scroll.
  • Acquia DAM (Widen) has been a seemingly affordable solution to the problem of how to share visual assets on a fairly large marketing team.
Support for the platform is adequate and fast. Any time I've contacted Acquia DAM (Widen), they've been very forthcoming and obliging. The only thing is they can't exactly rectify the problems that are below surface level, inherent in the system (e.g., the wonky image search experience). But they help with what they can affect.

Do you think Acquia DAM (Widen) delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Acquia DAM (Widen)'s feature set?

No

Did Acquia DAM (Widen) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Acquia DAM (Widen) go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Acquia DAM (Widen) again?

No

For teams sharing assets for use between projects (e.g., for a cruise company that has images of ships and ports for print/email/website designers to share between their projects), it's a completely adequate platform. Same for sharing other kinds of assets, like vector art and logos.

Using Widen

As someone who's an individual contributor-level user interacting with this platform, usability is my main vantage point and really the only thing I care about. And Acquia DAM (Widen) Collective is decent software for about the year 2007, I think? It's just a clunky experience. Almost any image search engine I've ever used is more streamlined and easier to use than Acquia DAM (Widen) Collective. Granted, Acquia DAM (Widen) Collective has a few more/other features compared to Bing, but that doesn't excuse the really janky, outdated experience of this software to me.
