Overall Satisfaction with ThoughtSpot

We use [ThoughtSpot] as a data discovery engine. We have rolled it out to some of our clients and they use it to build pinboards to assist them to run their business and to report to executives the results of their work and efforts over the past week, month, or quarter.
  • Quick to insights
  • Beautiful charts
  • Easy to set up
  • Print to PDF is not fully supported and that has a big impact on sharing pinboards with executives.
  • In my opinion, customer support is slow to react and often leads to an endless circle of tickets that sometimes never get resolved. I feel like this involves finger-pointing from one team to another and I find it very frustrating.
  • The search bar is really nothing like Google search. In my experience, the cursor moves in odd places and the results of a basic search are far more difficult to get than a Google search. I feel like it's a long way to go here.
  • In my opinion, it can be harmful to client trust due to downtime and bugs that never get fixed.
  • It can be helpful to get quick insights.
  • I believe the ROI impact is still unclear.
It can take non-analytics business users weeks or months to get comfortable. Some never will. As it is now, [ThoughtSpot] does not live up to the promise of being a user-friendly way to search your data and uncover insights in my opinion.
For an experienced user, the results are very accurate and can be done in real-time.
In my opinion, there are too many bugs and the search bar does not really work as intended.
It has enabled our organization to utilize cloud data warehouse services.
We selected ThoughtSpot with the promise that it would evolve into a Google search for business insights. To date, it has not gotten close in my opinion.

You need to know [ThoughtSpot] well and have lots of hours using it in order to really use it well. Setting up quick answers and pinboards for business users works fine, but the tool can be very difficult for non-analytic folks to use. It looks clean and simple, but it does not live up to what we have hoped it would be.
