Overall Satisfaction with Rubrik
Rubrik is used across our whole organization - all Servers physical (64bit) and VM (32 or 64 bit) We also use it for databases - MS SQL and Oracle. Rubrik solves the backup problem with backup windows and with Ransomware as it has an immutable store. Radar helps with efficiency of what to restore in case of an security event.
- Full server restore quickly in a VM environment.
- Data move4s with one is creating a new server or between drives with full security kept intact, especially for redirected my documents where even a DA does not have rights to the files.
- in VM world still does vmdk snapshots to minimize backup times.
- Uses the concept of SLA so one does not have to schedule all backups and have that headache.
- Immutable store.
- Very secure, and allows Archive to S3 cloud storage to offload repository size limitations.
- Migrating off 32 bit machines is tough, as the RBS does not have a 32 bit component. They should have one for some backwards capabilities to make migration off 32 bit machines a breeze.
- Needs to have the ability to restore to Windows SMB shares (UNC path and not hard dive letters) off a regular restore.
- Needs a few more options on restore, e.g. even if an restore error, to still continue or not option.
- Have a restore option to keep current security of take on security of the restore location.
- E-mail notification of when a restore is completed.
- Initial sizing is very important, always add 25% as things always grow!!
- Love the hardware replacement cycle!!
- ROI is excellent and worth the switch.
Rubrik brings Immutable store and less work for a backup administrator.
TSM had one interesting feature as part of a backup you could say also archive/delete say .mov files as they should not be in your staff's my documents to help clean up filer storage.
Rubrik works best in virtual spaces and cloud spaces.
