Overall Satisfaction with Windows Server
We manage Windows Server for a few of our clients who need it for computer lab deployments or data sharing among office staff. In a Windows environment, it's the only way to go to get good control over devices and easily provide access to shared resources like drives and printers over the network.
- Manage accounts
- Share printers
- Organize files
- User friendly interfaces
- GUI tools for common tasks currently relegated to Powershell
- Licensing can be incredibly difficult
- User management
- Network management
- Data access
- Great for managing large organizations at scale
- Saves time by providing a single point for many common tasks
- Simplifies mass deployments (ie pushing a new printer to everyone)
There are plenty of other server solutions out there which may be better suited for certain tasks, but Windows Server is the way to get a Windows environment going. For simple setups, there are many alternatives, but often there are key features lacking, or a restriction on customization which makes them unsuitable.
