Overall Satisfaction with UKG Ready

We use the full suite to manage our external contingent workforce. The customizations on time and onboarding are critical to the services we sell to our clients. We do have some system limitations due to our unique staffing needs. Most have been resolved by customizing the system, but we have not been able to resolve processing past pay period timecards and bypassing logins for our external timecard approvers.

  • I would like to be able to process past pay period timecards. In staffing, we need to be able to process a prior pay period timecard with the current timecard. This is impossible.
  • Modernizing onboarding to include video tutorials, and a better UI as workers get stuck a lot [...] requires a lot of IT troubleshooting from my HR team.
  • I would like it if it could modernize the branding opportunities. We have to use noreply@kronos.com in order for our reports to be received. We can't include images in messages/notifications unless they have a URL from an image hosting site [that] is outdated.
  • Onboarding customizations are critical to our services. We cannot operate without custom OB packages.
  • We are able to integrate data relatively easily between our custom portal and UKG Ready, saving a lot of time and providing a quicker service to our clients.
  • We cannot process payroll without several manual steps as we are in staffing and can't be locked down to one pay period only.
  • The UI is not super user-friendly for an employee level, so we do waste a lot of our time troubleshooting the system.
I reviewed over 11 similar platforms and picked UKG Ready 2x at different companies due to 2 factors - 1) There is a full suite available. Some platforms only offer benefits or HR and not payroll. This impacts our employee experience as well as makes it more difficult to manage. 2) The pricing of the modules is more customizable. Other platforms required us to pay for services we would not use and the cost was significantly higher. UKG Ready allows us to not pick performance management, leave, or recruiting. The cost for the HR module does include some services we don't use, but the cost is still reasonable compared to other competitors' HR modules.
High rating as HR admin-level users have a lot of power customizing the system without support, but lower rating as the ease of use for employees/managers is not friendly, so they can easily get lost even though we removed all [unessential] from their security profile. They get confused from having to 'Mark as Complete' checklist steps as not all allow them to auto-complete and they absolutely keep freaking out that the direct deposit step doesn't get a green checkmark because [it's] pending admin approval and they don't read the highlighted bold instructions telling them this. They also click to complete I9, W4s and then don't see the add new button, and, then, we think [there's] nothing to do since the screen is blank. We have a lot of training internally just to help our end users troubleshoot the system.
Pretty high as the reporting and global setting[s] are easily customized by an admin user so we can see our options and build reports to export easily. Integrating into the system is more challenging as there are so many required profiles and fields to assign to ensure our features work, but, once again, I can navigate the system as an admin so [it's] considerably easier than having to rely on IT to translate the system.

The system is great if you need to automatically assign different onboarding packages. We have to segment our workforce on several levels and the cost centers allow us to do this easily. Reporting is very user-friendly so an HR admin can do a lot in the system without needing to have IT coding experience like other HRISs. This system is good for a standard client company that is not super cutting-edge. A cutting-edge company would not be satisfied with the outdated system functionality as updates to the system are mostly [aesthetic] and do not address a lot of California compliance ideas that have been submitted in the community for years.
