Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

We use Draftsight across the business for designing profiles' cutters and tooling as well as creating drawings of these for marketing. Draftsight allows us to save drawings as PDFs for our customers to approve, we can then use the drawings to program cutting paths on our grinding machines that make the cutters.
  • Flexible hash and fill options for creating metal and wood effects
  • Ease of use allows for drawings to be creating quickly
  • Range of export options to more commonly used formats for drawings to be reviewed
  • Draftsight could run better on lower performace machines, even on high performance machines there can be some lag now and again.
  • There used to be a more basic subscription version which was perfect for our needs, now lowest subscription is more expensive. Bringing back the standard version would be great.
  • Including hash pattern files would be very useful.
  • 2D Drawings
  • PDF Export
  • Scale Drawings
  • Draftsight has been very cost effective, it was free a few years ago then £79 a year, which it still is if you have the standard version. Now the minium level is Profession edition at £159+ VAT per year. Which is still very good value for money, just more that what we currently pay with the standard licences we have.
AutoCAD is more comprehensive and more popular, however, the cost is a great deal more, so Draftsight is better value for money for us.

Do you think DraftSight delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with DraftSight's feature set?

Yes

Did DraftSight live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of DraftSight go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy DraftSight again?

Yes

Draftsight is well suited for 2D drawings, not 3D. As already mentioned can require quite a lot of computer resources, so may not work as well on older machines. In an environment when you want to produce relatively simple 2D drawings quickly it is really effective, more complex drawings can be done with more time.
