Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

I work for a small company and I am basically the marketing department. I consult with others as well, but I basically run the department. We use it to create email marketing campaigns that we run pretty frequently. I create campaigns about twice a week and then run all the metrics back for our company. I, then, upload all that data into Salesforce and inform our salespeople of who to contact and who [...] not [to] contact. We use it when we need to mass market to a bunch of different people or organizations.
  • Reporting
  • Extremely customizable
  • Extreme ROI
  • Customer service could be a bit better.
  • It could have a better customer tracker.
  • It could allow for increasing the number of sendable emails.
  • I have had an extremely positive investment.
  • Below a certain quantity, it's completely free.
  • Overall, I believe it is a great service.
We only ever looked at Mailchimp. We're an Atlanta-based company, and since they are from Atlanta, only around 3-4 miles from our office, we only looked at them. We started with a very small customer base, and they have allowed us to move up with them with our increased volume. I think it's [an] extremely valuable service that we will continue to use. I am not sure about their future, considering they were just bought by another company.
It is extremely useful and usable. It is a very user-friendly tool that is very helpful. You could learn the ins and outs of the tool in a very short period of time, and [it] doesn't require a bunch of training to understand how it works and how to best use it. I think a normal user will see an ROI in a very short period of time.
Both organizations I work for have yet to integrate it with anything. However, I have suggested we integrate it with Salesforce, our CRM, in order to have a 360-degree view of our customers. We can then create reports and dashboards that will track everything. We don't use it to sell products, really, but [...] to inform our clients/potential clients of what we are working on or are about to release.
We have a pretty strong open rate of around 20-25%, which, from our understanding, is very high for the legal services industry. I also use it for Argos, a company that provides construction materials for general contractors, [to] reach our clients and notify them of price increases or other systems we are working on. I've learned that it's a dynamic tool/environment and that you can always learn more about the tool and how to reach your clients.

Do you think Mailchimp delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Mailchimp's feature set?

Yes

Did Mailchimp live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Mailchimp go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Mailchimp again?

Yes

I would use it anytime you would need to send out mass email marketing campaigns to people. You can use A/B testing and segment out extremely well to get it very honed in for specific recipients. It has great tracking capability and will give you insight into where you might potentially be able [to] extract more value. I wouldn't use it for the most sophisticated email campaigns, but they definitely get the job done.

Ecommerce User Experience

  • Marketing CRM
It has helped us tremendously in staying connected with our clients and potential clients. We can send out bi-weekly communications to stay in contact with them, and our sales team can figure out our best way to communicate with them and how to sell to them. We don't frequently [make] sales through our campaigns, but it is very helpful in our ability to stay on their radar.
We use the Marketing CRM and segmentation features. We have the predictive demographics enabled, but that doesn't seem to help us out too much. We know how frequently our clients are purchasing from us and what are the typical kinds of customers that will buy from us. It has helped us a lot in our ability to segment out our customer base.

Marketing Professional User Experience

  • Segmentation
  • Marketing CRM
  • Dynamic content
  • Campaign templates
  • Email marketing
  • A/B testing
All of these features have helped us work towards our goals for marketing. We use Mailchimp more than any other marketing service, and that's because we see the most success while using them. Their dynamic content and ability to build quick email marketing campaigns [are] extremely intuitive and [have] helped us with our reach immensely.
  • We haven't linked any systems yet.
We haven't linked Mailchimp with any systems yet. We want to, but integrations always take a bit to achieve. We would love to have it integrated [into] Salesforce so the data will be updated instantly.

Using Mailchimp

4 - We have a pretty small team, [with] only nine people, and mainly [I] and the VP use Mailchimp to achieve our marketing goals. I generally build them entirely by myself now and then have the VP review them for any mistakes and make sure all the information and the links are working correctly. We then update the upload the information into Salesforce.
2 - We have such a small team that it doesn't take a lot of us to make sure that Mailchimp is working correctly. You need an eye for aesthetics to make sure the email looks very clean. You need some technical skills to make sure the email is linked correctly and is flowing correctly, and then to make sure all the fields are being updated correctly in Salesforce.
  • Cost effectiveness
  • Simplicity
  • Ability to use
  • Ability to reach 1000's of users
  • Predictive modeling
  • Geographic modeling
  • Could turn it into a more online purchasing tool
  • Leverage some of the A/B testing
  • Work with users to see how they use it
We've had Mailchimp for about ten years, I want to say. I started with the company about four years ago, and I don't see us ever diverting to another source. It's easy for us to use, and we have all our clients already built into the database. I imagine we'll use them for as long as we have the company.
