Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

Blackline is being used by the US Finance operations team to perform account reconciliations. Prior to implementation we manually performed all of our balance sheet reconciliations by hand or in excel. It was extremely time-consuming, used up a lot of paper, and made it almost impossible to monitor progress.
  • Blackline is awesome at routing account reconciliations between preparer, approver, and reviewer.
  • It is easy to run a report and know exactly how many account reconciliations are not certified yet.
  • Our auditors can log into Blackline when they need to and gather their own audit support. Huge time saver.
  • While the reporting features are vast, I wish we could do a little more customization.
  • I would love to be able to locate account reconciliations that have a template error (ie a subledger balance is available but the subledger template is not selected)
  • I would like an easier way to locate the number of account reconciliations that are between 1.00 and 9.99 that would auto-certify if we raised our threshold to $10.00.

  • We were able to get almost 50% of our account reconciliations to auto-certify each month.
  • We have moved completely paperless as Blackline handles all approvals and storage.
  • We are able to run a report in a matter of seconds and send out a reminder to users showing which account reconciliations are still outstanding. No more hiding.
I have not had the opportunity to use other account reconciliation tools. Prior to Blackline, we performed all of our balance sheet reconciliations manually in excel. Moving to Blackline was a huge improvement. They really provide all the tools necessary to be successful. Very happy with the time savings we've realized.

Blackline is an excellent tool for account reconciliations. It allows transparency into the process, workflow automation, and an audit trail. It has saved us a significant amount of time across the entire finance team. All of our support is now saved within Blackline versus sitting in file cabinets spread out among the office.
