Overall Satisfaction with Zerto

We mainly use Zerto as migration from our customer's on-premises data center (which could be their own or a competitor's data center), but in fewer cases as a DRaaS solution for our customers.
  • VM migrations with near-zero downtime
  • Easy to deploy, use, and maintain
  • Very fast and robust tool
  • Zerto is too pricey compared to other solutions
  • Zerto should also include P2V solutions in their platform
  • ZVMs could ship as OVF/OVA appliances instead of installing them on top of Windows Server
  • It reduces a lot of the time spent planning and executing VM migrations between data centers
We barely need to reach out for Zerto support because the platform itself is rock-solid, but whenever we need help we get comprehensive and attentive specialists to talk to.

Do you think Zerto delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Zerto's feature set?

Yes

Did Zerto live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Zerto go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Zerto again?

Yes

From an IT Ops perspective, whenever you spend a little time designing the connectivity between two sites along with your network team, it's pretty straightforward to deploy and configure Zerto. It requires very basic knowledge of how the product works, so any junior could easily do it.
Even though I don't deal with our Zerto contract terms, from what I could see I think it delivers so much cost/benefits for migration projects, but it's too pricey for DR and backup solutions because of how it's billed (units per VM weekly).
I've been working with Zerto mainly in new customer migrations from their site to our data centers. For me, this is a much superior tool compared to vSphere Replication/SRM/Carbonite for the purpose it serves because of its low learning curve, fast deployment and configuration, and amazingly-built compression technology. Whenever we're on a tight project schedule, Zerto is our #1 choice. Even though I find it amazing as a DR/backup tool (for instance, having 5-second checkpoints for a virtual machine guarantees any recovery in case of a disaster), it becomes too pricey unless you have a very specific need for such a small RPO.
