Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage

Previously, we [had] servers with pre-defined configurations and resources. But when data grows, it's difficult to store and manage data, [so] we come to a solution that IBM Cloud Object Storage resolved our issue. It provides flexible services to store and maintain data with all-time availability. [No], we no need to worry about data backup and data availability for users.
  • Scalability
  • Durability
  • High availability
  • Data migration
  • As of now all features are working fine, so not much except improvements in SDK
  • Cost difference between multiple regions
  • No need to maintain server
  • Provides automated scaling based on usage, so no need to worry about space
  • User role based security, which helps prevent unauthorised data access
IBM Cloud Object Storage provides IBM Cloud Query directly to data location. It provides a server-less architecture to run the query and filter your data when needed. IBM Cloud Query provides a cost-effective service that provides pay amount per query price. IBM Cloud query provides data formats that we can use for our requirement, which can be JSON and CSV.
IBM Aspera [uses] FASP technology to really 10x, 100x, or up to 1000x times faster data transfer. Like old technology, all are transferring data using TCP, which can have different network conditions when transferring one to another region or location. Whereas IBM Aspera uses FASP technology instead of TCP to transfer larger files really much faster as compared to the ordinary method. It fully utilizes available bandwidth, which can help to transfer datasets much faster.
IBM Cloud Object Storage Offers different storage classes based on your data accessibility. It provides four storage classes, that is. Standard, Vault, Cold Vault, and Smart Tier. If you need to access your data more frequently, Standard class is that you can choose which is for Active workloads. You can choose Vault for less workloads and Cold Vault for cold workloads. Among all these four styles, Smart Tier analyzes your data access frequency and automatically distributes in three pricing tiers, and your billing will be based on data access.

Do you think IBM Cloud Object Storage delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM Cloud Object Storage's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Cloud Object Storage live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Cloud Object Storage go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Cloud Object Storage again?

Yes

Amazon S3 service is also a good option, but based on features it provides compared with IBM Cloud Object Storage, it is less suitable. IBM Cloud Object Storage [is] also integrated with more services, like IBM Cloud SQL and IBM Aspera, which AWS does not provide to transfer files at maximum speed in the world.
  • IBM Cloud Auto Scaling
We are using IBM Cloud Object Storage with Auto Scaling service. When data increases, we also needed to increase storage space. IBM Cloud Object Storage provides an Auto-scaling feature in which you can increase or decrease storage space in real-time without downtime. You can set rules in IBM Cloud Object Storage like after particular storage is occupied, it will automatically scale.
Amazon S3 Glacier, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Azure App Service
IBM Cloud Object Storage is best suitable for those who want to store data with security. It provides data encryption and data security, and accessibility based on user roles. It provides different vault services [that] you can choose from based on your data access frequency. It is suitable for all organizations, as it provides the best services. Maybe if you don't want to transfer data outside of your organization, then this should [not be] your option.
