Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power
We are using three IBM P9 S924 machines (two in primary site configured in cluster mode - KSYS), and one in DR Site for hosting all the core business applications' infrastructure. In total there are about 40 LPARs, IBM I & AIX ones.
- Core business infrastructure
- Hypervisor of all core machines (IBMi & AIX)
- Cluster mode for all our LPARs
- KSYS solution is not fully automated
- every time that we upgrade HMC, we have to double-check for KSYS compatibility
- KSYS logs creation is still a problem, not fixed yet.
- Very reliable infrastructure on which you can trust all your core business.
- If we had to use intel infrastructure, the license cost for the same products would be about a million Euros.
- has boosted all institution's processes
We used to have IBM i machines, dedicated for IBM i only. This was an old solution with bare metal machines, but with the new requests, we had to move to the S924 solution for hosting several core applications.
