Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We have been using Sage Intacct as our accounting software for a little over six years now. At first, it was a little difficult to navigate. I think that was mostly because my company did not pay for training on the software when it was new to us. It is not the easiest software program to figure out on your own. Over time, and with more training, it has become easier and more robust. There is so much you can do in this program; you just need to know where to go and how to do it. There are still a few things I would change myself, but overall it is a really good program, and they strive all the time to update and add to it. The quarterly releases and updates always add something, and there are webinars to go over those changes/additions, so it is easy enough to be in the know. Once you know how to use it, it is a great tool for accounting!
  • There is a really good audit trail, so you know who created or edited entries.
  • Dashboards are great once you set them up!
  • There are multiple drill downs within each section, so you can see more detail.
  • It would be better if I could select which specific credit to apply to an AP invoice payment, rather than it auto-selecting if there are multiple available.
  • It would be better if credits in invoices were automatically applied to the invoice they are in, rather than you having to do that manually.
  • It has been very helpful to have [...] software that has more remote capabilities since more people are working remote these days - approvals can be done in the system.
  • It is helpful to be able to attach documents to an entry, such as a JE or an AP invoice.
  • Training on the program is expensive (at least for a fairly small nonprofit organization!), so it has been a little difficult to learn on our own as we go - not everything is as intuitive as you would expect it to be.
We have not automated any modules; we still do all our own entries. But that has not been a burden or a problem.
We do have the time and expense management module, but we don't use it too much. We use it for light time management tracking and for entering and paying expense reports. T&E has the ability to have these entries made by each individual employee, then approved by their managers. That would be great if we could afford enough licenses for everyone in the company. We don't, so we don't do that, but it really isn't a problem. The accountant enters the ER's for each employee, and they are approved by the VP of Finance.
The configuration, layout, and design of the program are pretty good; it is fairly easy to navigate, and you can customize how you want the layout to be. The initial setup and import of older data [were] pretty painful, and several adjustments needed to be made over time to get it all right. I would definitely recommend paying for extra help with the initial setup if you have data to import from a previous system.

Would you buy Sage Intacct again?

Yes

We used MS Dynamics back when it was still called Great Plains. I actually loved that software. It was so user-friendly, intuitive, and easy to use! Switching to [Sage] Intacct was a little difficult, as it was not quite as intuitive and easy to figure out. Sage Intacct is, however, more robust and offers more capabilities once you know where to find them and how to use them.
Sage Intacct is a fairly good accounting software program; it is easy to make basic entries, such as AP invoices, journal entries, and cutting checks. It is a little tricky to do some things, such as split a customer shipment into multiple invoices. Learning to set up and use dashboards isn't the easiest thing, but once you get there, it is a great tool.
