Overall Satisfaction with Acronis Backup & Recovery

We're using Acronis Backup & Recovery to ensure the integrity of our system's data and those of the clients we are privileged to serve. There's many backup solutions, but we have relied on Acronis for both backup and pulling data from systems that are otherwise unbootable. It's proven to be an invaluable tool.
  • Imaging workstations, servers, laptops
  • Data Backup
  • In an emergency, it's a great tool to take a snapshot of the system, bootable or not, and use that for recovery.
  • There's too many versions. I suggest plying that down to just one, maybe two.
  • It can be confusing for some
  • Lower resource usage
  • Ability to roll out new systems quickly
  • Imaging systems when replacing hard drives is fast, preserves data, and can be done on hard drives with bad sectors.
  • I wish there was just a disk image to use. I don't like installing software on my laptop.
I've found that Acronis Backup & Recovery works well against Symantec Ghost. In particular, the licensing is much more simple. We only need one or two licenses, but I've found that's difficult to get with Symantec; however, purchasing one license of Acronis is very easy and is available from various sources. For usage, I'll usually be using it when something has gone wrong, for example, a failing hard drive. Both products can image hard drives with bad sectors.
Acronis Backup & Recovery is well suited for backing up data or system images in recovery situations or when a new system is being installed. Being able to restore from a backup rather than installing all programs and software and migrating data is a real time saver. Additionally, Acronis Backup & Recovery makes quick work of mass deploying computers or laptops when using a master image and dropping that image on all the systems to deploy.
