Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Analytics

Our Research, Analytics, and Product teams use Adobe for Video Analytics on our digital platforms (iOS, Android, Web, Connected TV). We are able to report on metrics like video starts and watch time across various categories and genres. We then use these reports as a basis for larger readouts to stakeholders throughout our organization.
  • Flexible reports creation
  • Easy to add custom dimensions
  • Intuitive report creation UI
  • Upgrading SDKs is very challenging
  • Admin tools are very clunky
  • Support can be a rabbit hole at times
  • Custom segments
  • Flexible report creation
  • Drag and drop user interface
  • Easy to implement reporting filters and dropdowns
  • Sharing reports
  • Improved risk mitigation
  • It has allowed us to better measure the impact of feature releases
  • Caused churn in our development cycles because of clunkiness and challenges with SDK upgrades
When it comes to Video Analytics specifically, I think that Adobe Analytics is slightly less powerful than a tool like Bitmovin. In the end, we decided to stay with Adobe Analytics because the switching costs were not worth it for us. For Mux specifically, we have come to learn that they are more focused on quality of experience whereas Adobe better suited to report on consumption. We use both tools in tandem.

If you have a dedicated resource to be your Adobe Analytics Administrator, Adobe can be a great tool. If not, and being the Adobe Admin is a small part of a person's role, the clunkiness of the admin tool and working with support when needed may cause a burden. Overall, once data and users are configured in Adobe Analytics, the reporting works very well.
