Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Stock

As a book publisher, we rely on stock imagery quite a bit to comp book covers. We'll often compile multiple stock images to create a visual that matches the vision of the author and our marketing teams. Considering the fact that custom illustrations - and most certainly specialized photo shoots for various items can be cost-prohibitive, stock imagery is a necessary go-to for the creation of new creative elements.
  • Excellent variety of creative photos.
  • They provide a nice selection of high quality vector illustrations.
  • Good keyword-search capabilities.
  • It's nice to be able to see other photos from the same collections without having to search deeply.
  • Their licensing is simple and covers almost every need.
  • I really do wish Adobe Stock would offer editorial-based content. There are no historical photos, photos of world figures, or other event-based content. We have to go to Getty for that.
  • Their video offerings are OK, but there is room for improvement.
  • The current enter-level monthly plan does not provide for any video downloads at all.
  • Easy, inexpensive licensing
  • A wide variety of creative photography, iconic vector illustrations, and landscapes
  • Powerful keyword-based searches, and search results that are similar in nature to items we find of interest.
  • The best part of Adobe Stock is its affordable entry-level plan, currently $29.99 for 10 monthly assets. Excellent pricing / ROI.
  • It's a great starting place to browse for ideas when creativity runs low. It's very helpful to be able to enter a keyword and start fueling new ideas.
  • Custom illustrations and custom photo shoots take so long and are so expensive, Adobe Stock helps us find great assets quickly and affordably.
Adobe Stock was given to us as initially an inexpensive add-on to our Creative Cloud subscription. Once the trial pricing expired, we found it so convenient, that we continued subscribing. The convenience of one-stop licensing and its wide variety was key. You do find some overlap in content between the creative stock providers, but if we find something at another stock photo service, we can usually find something similar at Adobe, and license it under our existing subscription instead of having to buy photos per image from somewhere else.

Do you think Adobe Stock delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Adobe Stock's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe Stock live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Adobe Stock go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Adobe Stock again?

Yes

If you are in need of photos of public figures (as we often are considering we publish a large number of historical and political books), then Adobe Stock is a complete mismatch. You will not find photos of world leaders, historic events, or current newsmakers. However, from a strictly creative standpoint, they provide an excellent variety of good building blocks to create visuals for comped scenes that are created from ideas.

Evaluating Adobe Stock and Competitors

Yes - Originally we subscribed to "Dollar Photo Club" for inexpensive stock assets. A number of years ago Adobe purchased them and our subscription converted over and we were able to retain our credits. Since then, Adobe stock has grown substantially and is far more robust than it was in the beginning.
  • Price
We often grab images for ideas but we may not end up using them in a final product. Because of this, we don't want to throw out a ton of money on stock photos that we may not use in a final product. Because Adobe Stock is so affordable, it minimizes this concern and still allows us access to the creative assets we need.
There are, admittedly, other stock services that are as sufficient as Adobe Stock that offer subscriptions at reasonable prices. But, since we were already Creative Cloud subscribers for their software offerings, this was a simple add-on to our current package with Adobe. I suppose if there were industry-standard software packages that we used that also offered this service we'd look at them, but really there's no reason to look elsewhere. Adobe Stock is fine for our needs.
