Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

ADP is our HRMS and payroll system. HR and payroll use ADP every day for hiring, terminating and updating employee data, along with running the weekly and biweekly payrolls. Employees and managers use it for entering time cards and time off requests. Recruitment uses it as a gateway to other job posting sites. ADP helps keep all our employee's information current.

Pros

  • Payroll - ADP was founded as a payroll company. That is what it does best while staying compliant with all the US laws.
  • Benefits - ADP houses all out benefit plans. For what can be a challenging process, Open enrollment is always easy and our support at ADP is by our side if a problem arises.

Cons

  • General Ledger - Currently our payroll manager handles the GL module. It seems to be a tedious system with little training available.
  • Security - In the sense of being overly complicated. I understand security within the system is very important but I find it difficult when wanting to assign one particular function to one manager for testing. It requires a lot of set up.
  • Having ADP as our HR and payroll system since 2009, our ROI is based on how well the team knows the system. Our turnaround time on requests are very low as well as coming up with solutions to meet our business needs.
  • The only negative impact with ADP is when a solution requires a 3rd party vendor. The costs are usually not expected.
Over the years our population has increased and decreased. We have never had a problem hiring or terminating employees in the system.
  • We have weekly files going to our benefit providers.
  • We have daily files going to our Performance Review provider as well as our Position Tracking provider.
ADP has 2 different ways to deliver files to providers. We use both methods. The first method is for files to be delivered to providers through a back end interface. The only visibility is to the files after they were sent. The second method, which in now the preferred ADP method, is to create a report and send the files to an FTP site hosted by the other vendor. This method works well because as the end-user, the report can be modified easily by the client if needed without ADP intervention.
ADP Workforce Now is an excellent payroll system. In my opinion, they are second to none. It is perfect for companies that are small to mid-sized and not overly complex. They offer a variety of features including an HR module, a talent module, analytics and bench-marking, and an ACA module. ADP can be configured in a variety of ways to meet your business needs but I would not say it is a customized system. ADP is always ready to help find a solution to your needs but if you are looking for detailed customization, then I would not recommend ADP.
