Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Drive

We use Amazon Drive as our primary back up for essential files, videos, and photos. We do not have company-wide access to Amazon Drive. It is only available to the owners. We don't access the files very frequently, but it gives us peace of mind to know that our files are safe and accessible to us in case we have any unexpected IT problems.
  • Amazon Drive automatically detects photos and videos in specific folders (that you choose). It will add them to Drive without any action from me.
  • There is a desktop app where you can access all of your files (in addition to web-based access).
  • The user interface for file storage isn't as intuitive as I would like.
  • The plans were not 100% clear for me when I first purchased.
  • We have greater peace of mind from having this cloud service.
  • We have saved a couple of hours per year by having an automatic upload option.
Other platforms I would compare Amazon Drive to would be Dropbox and Box. Amazon Drive is excellent because the files do not have to live in a collaborative folder that syncs to every device (thus taking up space on each of those devices). Amazon Drive is an "upload and forget" program for our intents and purposes, where Dropbox/Box is used for collaboration. I feel like Dropbox may provide the best experience overall and maybe moving our archived/saved files to Dropbox in the future.
We have not needed to use service for Amazon Drive, but based on our support experience for other Amazon, I anticipate it would be top-notch. Amazon Drive provides a full page of support topics. Direct customer support can be obtained from contacting the main Amazon Customer Service number - or through their chat or email feature.

Amazon Drive can be helpful in a variety of scenarios. It works best as a cloud back up - a place to store files, photos, and videos that are important and need to be safeguarded. I would not recommend it for collaborative document management and feel that there are other platforms better suited for that need. Amazon Drive can be programmed to upload specific folders from your desktop computer automatically. This is very helpful and takes the guesswork out of protecting your documents.
