Overall Satisfaction with Apache Hive

We use Apache Hive to make data-driven decisions. It is used from finance to engineering to sales. It helps aggregate our massive data sets into distilled information.
  • Flexibility through schema on read
  • Familiar SQL like query language
  • Functions for complex queries and analysis
  • Slower processing than other tools on the market
  • Hive is crucial for our BI and reporting.
  • Hive costs can ramp up quickly and can cause negative ROI when implementing inefficient schemas, queries, etc.
Apache Hive is open-source, so there are a solid community and information around it for support.
HQL is a friendly SQL-based query language that provides familiarity to engineers and business analysts. Interfaces like Hue provide clean and modern tooling to ease the experience.
