Overall Satisfaction with ApptioOne

We use Apptio One for creating our IT budget and then also use it for forecasting each month. Before Apptio there were only a couple people creating the budget on Excel so we brought in this product so that we could have more collaboration during the budget creation process.

Pros

  • Apptio does a good job of creating a submittal/approval flow for when managers submit their plans
  • I like that the graphs and charts all change according to filters that are set and are customizable
  • Apptio does a good job of allowing each user to create different views of the data in a way that works best for them

Cons

  • A Global search feature would be great, this would allow users to search on a keyword and pull all rows that contain the key word
  • The Event Log could be reconfigured better with more information to make it easier to digest each change that was made
  • BYOK encryption capability would greatly improve the trust in Apptio Security features
We use the models for our team to see how we are trending and to see different dimensions of our data. We also use the forecasting feature to create a new forecast plan each month to be active and make changes each month as information changes.
  • We have only been truly using Apptio within our organization for about 3 months, so because of this we do not have quantifiable info yet on how this has improved our business or not
I have had to reach out to support a couple of times and each time they have been quick to respond and let me know that they are working on it. But the majority of the time either they don't fully understand the problem which causes me to have to explain multiple times or they tell me that the issue has been fixed when nothing has been changed and the issue still remains. Also for a couple issues I was having with the CT reporting feature, I was told that my issues is a known issue that Apptio is aware of, but I was not told when they might be fixed or anything else.

I think apptio is well suited for teams that have detailed information on all of the transactions that happen within their company, because if you dont have information for everything then there are many features that you are not able to use. For example, our team had information for each of the contracts that we had signed previously but not all the information that was required to use the contracts tab in IT Planning. So we had to instead remove that tab from our environment because it is not useful for us.
