Overall Satisfaction with Arena PLM and QMS

For our organization, Arena PLM and QMS is the base for all current information. As for problems, we don't have many except when trying to implement new forms and trying to figure out the best way to go about them. For example, a form that we are now implementing for product revisions, we are trying different things depending on the situation in accordance to what might work best. There might be a right way to do it, but figuring out what works best for us is a trial and error.

Pros

  • Product history/revisions
  • storing documentation based on part
  • Showing product BOM/ having products showing individual components
  • The sandbox is a great feature

Cons

  • Being able to export products and their components would be amazing
  • Having a chat/ email functionality from Arena PLM and QMS would be helpful
  • Having to click the pencil before editing can get tiresome if we do it multiple times
  • Keeping track of most current drawings helps ordering
  • Understanding why vendors were switched can help not ordering certain items from certain vendors
  • Centralizing a product evolution can help save time and money getting everyone in one place

Having the system in the cloud helps when you need to have the information no matter where you are. When you have to be connected to the work internet you have to stay on site, and even with VPN trying to access virtual hard drives can be painful and grueling.
Expandable is hard to use compared to Arena PLM and QMS. Arena PLM and QMS is great when it comes to following the trajectory/ life cycle of products. One thing I like about Expandable is that it allows for the exportation of products and the BOM. This was a great feature that I used often, and could be a great addition in Arena PLM and QMS.

Keeping track of the life cycle of a product is a great feature. This is a great feature when we have to change products/ vendors and keep track of all the changes. A scenario when I think Arena PLM and QMS can be less appropriate would be when trying to edit documents like drawings from solidworks and trying to tie the contents in the drawings to a searchable feature.
