Overall Satisfaction with Automox

Automox was implemented to replace WSUS for Windows and Office Product Patching. And as a tool to provide patching for 3 party applications.
  • Windows Patching
  • 3rd party application patching
  • Office patching
  • Application deployment
  • Support is almost non existent I've found.
  • We had an onboarding process that was never finished in my opinion
  • Resolving issues in a timely matter
  • Windows Patching
  • 3rd Part Patching
  • Server Patching
  • Reduced time working with WSUS
  • Spent more time getting agents to report
  • Reduced time with 3rd Party application patches when working properly.
There was a lack of response from Ninja support during the IT trial and a higher overall price point. When we tested Automox the interface was pretty streamlined and deployment was simplified.

We went live in May, and we encountered issues where the agents randomly just stop working and show as disconnected in the console. Automox support has largely consisted of gathering log files and updating the agent over and over and the problem persists. As such we are still not 100% according to their own console and we are 5 months since we went live. We are now in a cycle of every few weeks we get an email from support saying they are working on it. We also have an issue where devices were randomly rebooting without warning even though the agent was instructed to notify and give the user deferment options. We turned off the auto reboot and the problem has gone away. If an enduser reboots a device the Automox agent does not recognize a system restart has taken place and leaves it flagged as such. The only way to clear the flag is to have Automox initiate another reboot of the agent. The dashboard shows misleading numbers for pending updates that their support does not know where it's coming from. The ticket placed with support has been dead since going live.

Automox Support

Two open tickets since going live. Neither has been resolved. 0% on support completion rate.
ProsCons
Kept well informed
Slow Resolution
Poor followup
Problems left unsolved
Difficult to get immediate help
Support doesn't seem to care
Slow Initial Response
I was not involved in licensing.
Yes - Our tickets are still open. 1.) Agents which reside locally on the machines shut down, and never reconnect. 2.) Numbers displayed in Automox Console have no value. It may show a number, but when accessing that function there are no actions or anything reporting.

Using Automox

I think this application has promise if they can get back on track. Its interface is less clunky than some of its competitors, but the lack of resolution on issues since the implementation is troubling.
