We use Avalara to keep track of customer exemption status and to track all tax and file all our S&U tax filings with every state we are registered in.

Return on Investment

Avalara makes it very easy to reconcile the sales tax values to our ERP system.
Makes all of our filings go super quick even though we have a tighter timeline to complete the reconciliation.

It took a lot of time and testing to get the integration figured out. The Avalara team was very helpful in all parts of the testing to get this up and running.

Usability

I find it very easy to navigate around the Avatax portal and using the site is very easy.

Avalara Returns
CertCapture

Returns are very easy and go super quickly when getting them filed and done. Well worth it. CertCapture makes keeping our customers' exemptions organized and filed all in one place easy.

Alternatives Considered

We have never used another system similar to avalara. We were doing everything manually prior to using Avalara.

In an instance where someone is handling multiple states for filing returns I think Avalara is very helpful. if you only have one or two states you are registered in I do not think Avalara would be necessary. They are very helpful in identifying nexus which is something that I think most people don't know they need to consider when collecting sales tax.
